My car recently started to have a noticable wobble or shaking and I've sort of narrowed it down to the rear suspension area... I talked it over with my mechanic and he thinks it's the bushings around the arms.
I've tried looking at 1sttoyotaparts.com but their diagrams don't really show the part. I'm curious to if anyone can lookup the part # or point me in the right direction. I'ved uploaded the image into my profile since I can't currently ftp to my host server. We've managed to order #2, but it has be to shipped from Japan... ![]() When I kick the front side of the rear tire, there is a clunking sound. Kicking the rear side is pretty solid tho. I read a thread about replacing the arms.. which arm is the culprit? (Front/rear/trailing?) And would this cause the rear of the car to wobble/shake at random times when driving? Thanks for any insight. |

have you checked your bearings?
jack the car up and see if you can move the wheel (grab at 6 n 3 o'clock push in and out) if so you got dead bearings |

How much give is acceptable? We've twisted the rear wheels and there is a little bit of play, but very little.
I thought the "clunking" sound (from my left rear) is indicative of suspension arms? |

there should be 0 play....a wheel should not move in or out (think driving at speed that thing will wobble like crazy)
and the arms you seek http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/ind...=12&catalogid=1 wala |

The local shop checked mine, i think he had me put my hands at 9 and 12. I need a new inner tie rod. Hope its not bearings, but he checked, didnt say anything about it. Ive read up on how to change the inner, and it seems like a pain, ill eventually get around to it. I noticed the suspension loose becaues at high speeds my steering wheel wobbles like the wheels havent been balanced.

I was just looking at the online AARC (auto repair reference centre), and they said this:
Wheel Bearings REMOVAL & INSTALLATION On all models the rear wheel bearing can not be separated from the rear hub. If the bearing is bad, the entire hub must be replace. Is that true? I thought people got shops to press the bearings in.. or is that just for the fronts? |
