producer/technician for la Société Radio-Canada, the french-language service of the CBC (that's like NPR but en français SVP).
we broadcast throughout Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. i tech (audio) and direct the show every morning from 0600 - 0900 then i research story ideas, write scripts for the announcers and program music for the rest of the day (1000 -1300).
daily current affairs shows are a pain but i get a nice feeling that the listeners get the info they need to start the day (news, weather and sports are my life). my day starts by falling out of bed at 0345 and ends when i get home around 1400. nice to have every afternoon off biggrin.gif

If you ever have any questions devilsden97, feel free to PM or IM me anytime. smile.gif.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As for me:

I just graduated from ITT Technical Institute, in the Computer Design and Drafting program, in December. I was taught the basics of Engineering, Architectural, and Civil Drafting using Autocad, Architectural Desktop, Inventor, and other similar programs. Since January 3rd, I have been working as a Mechanical Drafter for Rogers Manufacturing Co., Inc. We produce dump bodies/trailers, and also flat beds. When hired, I was initially going to update old drawings, as this company dates back into the 1950's. I also had to learn a completely new program; DesignCAD 3000, which is about 6 years old. However, after the only other drafter (other than the Chief Engineer) passed away, I was thrown into that position. So now, I both update old drawings, and fulfill body orders by putting into a drawing, what is on paper, then giving that to the shop to produce. Also, rarely, I will produce some 3D part drawings, using Autodesk Inventor.

An example of what I do:
IPB Image

Nothing is to scale, it is just a very generalized drawing showing the guys in the shop what all is going to be included on the dump body.

It's pretty nice. Benefits are great. And it's nice to see something come in as a truck and chassis, and leave here looking like what I've drawn, ready to go to a quarry to be loaded.

Remember my credo: "Don't be a fool. Stay in school."

Im a full time student, major mechanical engineering

on the side i do computer repair and installs/tuning on cars. so far i have done a turbo kit on a bmw, tuned a turbo prelude, several gauge installs, suspension upgrades. in the next comming weeks, 2 stage 4 installs plus tuning on WRX's, 50 trim turbo upgrade on an srt4, intake manifold and turbo upgrade on a jetta, and a crap load of work on an sc300(6spd and TT conversion). at this rate, i'll have a built motor for my WRX by the end of summer laugh.gif not bad for someone that works part time.

my buddy is opening up a shop hopefully by the end of this month. and within 4-6 months we should have his car on the cover of a magazine. after that the jobs will keep rolling in. as soon as the shop opens up im enrolling in AEM's training program to become a certified AEM EMS tuner. i already have experience with it, as well as SDS, DFI, SCT, UTEC, DTEC, SAFC, TunerCat, and SplitSecond.

hopefully in the next 2 weeks i'll be getting an AEM EMS for my wrx

Rocket Scientist...

more or less...

I am a mechanical engineer for the company that manufactured the Canadarm, Canadarm 2 (currently on the ISS). I lead the build of the robotic arms on DEXTRE, the robotic manipulator that is waiting to go up to the ISS but has not been launched due to shuttle delays. Designed to drastically reduce the need for repair and integration spacewalks on the station freeing time to perform experiments on the station that Bush has already eliminated.

I go to school full time at ITT Tech. Going for a degree in Computer Networking Systems. I also work in a polyethylene film plant, where I, basically, make plastic bags for companies like Mission, Foster Farms, Gurerro, OUT!, Safeway, QFC, ect.

I make so-so money, but then it is raped from my paycheck by the union.

Senior Anaesthetic Technician in the OR at an Auckland Hospital. As well as clinical duties, I look after a computerised anaesthetic record keeping system (which can be a right pain in the ar5e sometimes!!! I'm sure Bill Gates has had some input at some stage mad.gif ) as well as being a deputy team leader and on the Quality Assurance Team. I also cover the hospital's emergency response team for the wards, ER, ICU etc.
In my spare time I do some web design stuff for pocket money and also run my occupation's governing body's website too www.nzats.co.nz as well as the design and formatting of the NZATS journal, The Script.

I install carpet and vinyl flooring full-time. Also im cheif videographer and part owner of the WWW.TheLiveYearbook.com we make video yearbooks for schools...but schools want nothing to do with us, all we do is offer to fund ther video class with new computers and cameras, and also give the school $5000 for anything they see fit. And we do all the work!! Why would they want free money and equipment...I mean who would want a Free St205 clip and be installed, then give you $4000?

Steve
