ok.. i'm having thoughts of selling my celi (
but before you tell me not to... just listen to it alll hahah okay.. the celi is just starting to be a pain in the butt... i love her, and shes beautiful, but i dont know if its worth it anymore. it runs beautifully, no problems what so ever, all it needs is paint.. and new motors for the roof (because it broke again) and both of these things are really pricey to fix. i'd be fine with leaving the roof manual, but because my back is so messed up, i can't lift it without pulling a muscle or hurting for the rest of the day. now.. i could a) part it out and sell it stock b) take of the rims, and sell it that way. just remember how rare celi verts are up here in canada too... anyways, i can hopefully get around what i paid for it ($10,500) because miles are low and its rare and everyone loves it now... if i do sell it... i'm thinking of getting a bike. My dad loves bikes and is always around them and said he might help me get my first one if i get my license... soooo... the way i see it.. i sell the celi for ~$10G's.. buy a bike for around $5,000. i won't mod a bike.. so i won't be wasting money on it. it can be my summer time fun toy (just like the celi), it will be friggen AWESOME to have a bike, and then i have my ****ty beater for any rainy days or for the winter. do you guys think i'm crazy... do you think i should go for it? i'm just having trouble affording the celi right now, and i know i'll just want to keep modding it and spending money on it that i probably will never get back. with a bike i wont be wasting that money and i'll have a damn good time with it.. opinions (BE HONEST@!!) please -------------------- lissa | 1997 Celica Convertible

-your back might hurt when riding the bike b/c you're in a crouched position. i didnt think my back would affect me when i was riding a bike but i definitely felt it.
you could try and buy the parts that you need for your celi from a junkyard. This post has been edited by Jdog1385: May 5, 2006 - 6:21 PM |

here is what i dont like about bikes.... if you buy a bike, you will fall off it a few times. that thats a proven fact. only thing you dont know, is how hard youll fall or whats going to happen to you.

Bike!!! spend around 5-6k on it and buy a DD for about 4k that you can drive on them rainy days. IMO, i would get a bike if my parents and my girlfriend were okay with that. Too bad they aren't

I agree. If you get a bike, you're going to get into an accident eventualy, it happens to everyone. Just hope that when it happens that you don't die. On the other hand, anyone who has driven a motorcycle for any period of time is a much better driver than 99% of people on the road. When you start riding, you become about 100 times more alert than you'd ever imagine you could be in a car. |

yeah i definitely agree with you
i'm not about to say i'm going to be invincible or anything... my dad raised me and taught me when i was learning driving to always be alert and i'd like to say i'm pretty good driver, ive had close calls like everybody else, but i'm not stupid when i drive and i always drive defensively... i'd like to think he'd be able to teach me the same way with the bike... i know i wouldn't be stupid and do catwalks or speed like an idiot... but you're right, sometimes its not always your fault and its the other people around you that are dumb... thats my only hesitation about getting the bike... is the uhh... pain factor.. hahah -------------------- lissa | 1997 Celica Convertible

wouldn't there be a warrenty on the motors if they went out not even a year ago?? And plus in a celi you can atleast drive with four people what are you gonna do when you go out with your friends? I think you should keep it. Bikes = dangerous. I like bikes and all but its up to you.

unfortunately the wreckers didn't give out a warranty on the motors
they were out of a 98, so they've prolly had just as much use as mine got before they went out.. they're still 8 year old motors ya know.. -------------------- lissa | 1997 Celica Convertible

i rode for 20 years without a major incident (dropped bike, burnt calves, etc.). i saw my best friend go high-side in a turn while passing me on the right, slide into a level railway crossing and spend the rest of the summer in traction--didn't bother me the slightest. i loved the freedom of motorcycling, i used to think: if i die on a bike then i die happy. here is why i sold my last bike and got the CeliPig: people are fuking idiots!!! one may think with the growing number of motos on the street (gas prices and disposible incomes on the rise) cagers (car drivers) would pay more attention. NOT! i had more close calls in the last 3 years than i did in the 20 years previous. everyone is just in too much of a rush and they don't give a flying fuk about the other guy. i got tired of riding in a constant state of paranoid alertness, it just wasn't fun anymore. take an advanced rider class, always wear your armour and invest as much money as you can afford into a full-faced helmet. then, when the moron cuts you off when he's pulling out of the McD's because he can't judge speed and distance for something smaller than a Ford Excursion, at least you have half a slim chance of surviving.

all bias aside, if you are currently not daily driving your celica and have a beater, buy a bike.
theres no reason a celica of any type shouldnt be a daily driver (even swapped IMO) if your going to have project cars go big or go home, i fell in love with the celica because its a sexy daily driver and the swap can be done and still be reliable. the bike will be fun, youll feel like the hottest girl in the world driving it, and it will be cheaper on gas. I have friends who ride, and ride sensibly, but 90% of the time, if there's a fatal accident involving a motorcycle here, it's because some dumba** on a crotch rocket was playing Bryan O'Conner/Johnny Tran and lost it. My take is that the odds are against you when you're on a bike. Doesn't matter how many classes you take, how "good" you are, when you're on a bike, the laws of physics (amongst other things) are against you. If your celi gets blindsided by a pickup truck, odds are, you're going to survive. If your bike gets blindsided, odds are, they're going to bury you in a ziplock bag. With gas prices the way that they are its such a smarter idea. What are you going to get? I think im going to get a Suzuki SV650s to start out with. I know im going to drop that thing.

I honestly don't really care what kindof of first bike, because I'll just learn to drive it unless my cousin would beable to fix the damages, lol.

i will run myself over with a transport truck before i drive a pink vehicle
yeah i guess thats true, but i dont really plan on driving it much at night anyways.. besides... what are people gunna see when you're driving at night when you're coming at them? a headlight.. and what will they see when you're going away? a tail light... you can't usually see the colour of the bike at night anyways right... i could always get brightly coloured gear too that would help this bike also comes in blue, which i like, i just think the black looks sexy -------------------- lissa | 1997 Celica Convertible

Horses will kill you the first chance they get.
They should be free and hunted for money like the mighty elk. EDIT: That was a joke of course. I have met a few horses I like. My mom's best friend died on a horse so I'm sure I got some phobias from that. They know when ur scared. yep for sure
but very rarely do they ever intend to kill you!!! lol accidents happen sometimes on horses, you're right, but thats just the nature of the sport... its where all the excitement comes from -------------------- lissa | 1997 Celica Convertible
