So this is my 2nd year into taking pictures. I use a sony P2, an old 2 mega pix point-and-shoot camera for grandparents to use. frown.gif

well any who, i went to take pictures with my friend who has a FD. Took quite a few pictures and went home to look at them on the computer. I saw that its not that bad with a camera that doesn't even have shutter priority or in matter of fact, no manual controls. My rx7 friend and I like the pictures but there is this one kid that says the pictures are horrible and not worth showing to other people. Whats the matter with him?

He can't even give me reasons why they are horrible (he doesn't know how hard photo taking is! mad.gif ) He just says, "they suck". I wanted to jack him in the face at that moment but instead, I wanted some honest feedbacks from you guys.

I do realize i have a different style in my photos. like, i like the pictures to be dark (maybe under exposed?) and show a lot of shadows. Maybe he didn't like that? I just want to get better at taking photos. So tell me what I should fix and what you like please. I want some honest feedbacks from people who knows what they are talking about.

Well they arent that bad, for a 2mp camera. But you really need a tripod and adjustable aperture/iso/shutter speed to get good night shots. In the first pic, the bright light in the background causes a dark foreground.

Unfortunately with that camera you dont have anything to work with so you have to design your photos to accomodate the camera, when it should be the other way around.

that kid's just dumb. i think these pics look pretty good. but you can do so much better than 2 megapixels. upgrade your camera and keep taking pics.

You don't necessarily need to upgrade the camera...manual controls would help, but it's the photographer that makes the picture, not the camera.

I like those pictures. smile.gif Choosing some better spots to shoot might work out better. If you could shoot somewhere where the bright lights don't cause washed out areas of the pictures, they might turn out a bit better...at least for the first couple shots. Just my constructive comments...those pictures do look nice though...did you up the contrast in an image-editing program?

Thanks for the replies guys. See, you guys make much more sense!

haha, i'll stop with the extreme tilting of the camera so i won't hurt your necks. I did run these picture through a microsoft program to fix the contrast a little but there isn't much you can do with it.
i think i pulled everthing i can out of this camera. its true that when coomer says its the person behind the lens not the camera. I hear this everywhere but i think i do need a upgrade. at least so i have some manual priority.

thanks again guys.
more comments are welcome.

I think in the first 2 pics the cars are a bit dark.

Good looking shots and background, you did very well with a 2 MP camera. smile.gif

Perhaps a little too much extreme JDM angle for my taste, a little less extreme of an angle and a little more focus on the subject would pull it all together nicely.

Good shots though, I like both cars alot. thumbsup.gif

Totally agree with that 101%

I too like the first two pics. From a technical point of view, there is a lot of contrasting light there overall which would make taking a photo quite difficult, but I think you have done very well.
