Please excuse some statements that may sound kinda gay, it's just that I got real attached to my Celica since I first got it almost 2 years ago. I might be trading the Celica in for a Release Series 2.0 tC. I wish I could keep the Celi, but it's 12 years old and the motor's at 200,000+ miles. I had been in talks with someone to do a 4AGE Blktop 6 speed swap, but that's coming out to about $4,550 and my parents are really against it, especially sine I have to drive to another state to do it. Please don't ask if I'm selling anything off my car... I'll let you all know. Don't tell me who has dibs on what. In short, I've been searching for a brand new car and a Toyota. Toyota currently doesn't have a real wide selection of sports cars now... Thought about the Yaris because it's cheap, but it doesn't have 4 wheel disc brakes and I'm a little picky. If the MR2 was still in production, I'd get it because its rwd and lightweight and all that good stuff, but the best I could find in my area was a 2002 with 50,000 miles for 16 grand. So in looking for a brand new car, I found something that'll be unique and quick enough for me. Still not sure if I'll get it stick or auto. Most likely auto because I'm lazy, but that's how I felt about the Celicas and towards the end ended up wanting to convert it to manual. So I'm not too sure. I guess I'll drive a stick shift tC and see if I like how it feels on the tC. The interior looks comfortable, and for 18 thousand bucks, I think it's a great car. I would like to know what you guys think. I know how you most of you feel about your Celica's and are anti-anything-but-celica(especially hondas. lol). man, i really dont know what to do. let me know what u guys think.

i think the tc's look nice. i see them everywhere, but at least the release series are a lil more special. but then again... a 6-speed blacktop conversion would be sweet. i say try convincing your parents. or wait a couple more years till you're out of the house.

I have a good friend that works for toyota. The TC is the toyota celica...basically when toyota decided to start the scion line with younger market target they decided to discontinue the celica a couple years thereafter when they were coming up with the idea for the tc. If you look at the toyota line up now there are no real sports or sporty cars in the us market(jdm market yes but thats lexus here). The TC stands for Toyota Celica. If you look very closely to the tc and the 7th gen celica side by side you will actually notice some very close styling cues and likenesses. I've driven the tc and love it. it reminds me alot of my celica. Before i lost my celica i was thinking about doing the silver or blacktop swap and was going to do it because it was more practicle for me and i do all my own work, but thinkin back on it now going with the tc or another new car would have been my better bet since u will most likely get more time and reliablity out of a newer car( and gas milage most likely). good luck with your decision and hopefully this might make ya feel a bit better knowing ur not really betraying the celica.

if i got rid of my car a tc would be in the options...my friend has a tc and is close to pushing 280 rite now..non turb'd...that thing flys... and it is a very comfortable ride...slammed and all...and he isnt done pushing it yet...so i would go wit the tc if u get rid of the celi...forget the yaris...unless u need gass milage...but then i still wouldnt get the yaris..but that swap would be sweet

TC's are HOT. My sister is getting a black manual one. She just order one and is having it "customized" by Toyota. According to the salesman, manual Black tc's are hard to find.
The blue one is the special limited edition one... |

I don't know dude. Its funny you post this, I JUST drove a friends brand new Scion Tc RS 2.0 in that same color today when I was at work. To me it felt like a stock 6th gen with just more bulk to it, and brand new.
Its definately a neat and cool car and all, but for the money you spend on the payments theres soooo many better cars out there that will be lighter on the wallet and much more fun to drive. I got into my Celica after driving the Scion and theres no comparison- Celica is better hands down, dollar for dollar. After you get over all the simple little "Gee Whiz" features of a new Scion, you're left with a characteristic strikingly close to that of a stock 6th gen GT Hatchback, except theres more sportiness and less bulk in the 6th gen IMO. -------------------- 3rd gen ST205 3SGTE - Alive and boosting. |

I own both - not an RS but that's only looks anyway. My friend owns an RS so I've seen what little difference there is. The tC does feel alot like a Celica but weighs more and with better options. After you get over the newness of it though the Celica looks alot better IMO. I'd say in your situation get the tC as a new car will probably make you feel pretty good and it will be alot faster than your ST. Against a GT though the differences in speed change. My tC has a short ram and exhaust and is waaaaay slower than my GT. Both are manual and it's pretty obvious to me that the difference is in the weight.
However the SC is a good and easy way to gain some HP numbers and would probably be more bang for the buck than a 4A swap. Get the tC or wait until you hae enough money to own both and swap you're Celica and DD your tC. that's my current plan. -------------------- ![]() |

why out of state? (drtweak?)
Sean at central florida performance will do the swap, he is a celica, toyota fanatic. www.centralflperform.com altho' that tc looks good! Teh toyotas can go 500,000 on the chassis easliy in florida. the chassis isn't a wear part, the bushing struts and such are. i don't know of anyone with the 6speed either!
