Ok guys so after about 1 and a half years of researching and saving money i now have enough knowlegde and money to complete my swap. I will cover everything i go through during my process of making my car 3sgte powered. Tomorrow (Tuesday July 11) is when i am going to buy my ST185 front clip from a company nearby. I will take many pictures and write many times to kep you guys posted. I would like to thank everyone who has done a write up on thier previous 3SGTE swap, this information was golden in helping me know what it takes and how to correctly do a 3SGTE swap. Hopefully i can have everything done by the end of july. I am getting a good friend of mine to help me complete the swap. If anyone nearby the area wants to come check out the action PM me. My fingers are crossed that everything will work fine. I have compression numbers on the clip and leakdown %, I also have pictures of what the clip looks like.

I have a 1995 Toyota Celica GT
White
Hatchback
2.2L DOHC

So here are the pics of my car as it sits now...

Here are some pictures of the clip im going to be getting...

ST185 3SGTE front clip

Wish me luck guys!!! biggrin.gif

i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.

For wiring i will most likely send it to DG Performance, But my buddy who owns a shop wants to look at it first.

[color=#FF0000][font=Arial Black][size=7][b]DAY ONE!!!

Ok guys so heres the deal, i was going to buy the clip today and i called the guy at 3:00pm and he said the clip was already being bought by another customer. I was pretty upset, but he told me that he had a 3sgte engine without the clip for $1250.00. So i thought about it for a long while and i decided to go ahead and buy it. I figure with the money i saved froom the clip i will have enough to buy the small parts that i will need to complete the swap. I have yet to take pictures of the engine. Its late and its been a long day negotiating with the engine seller. I will have pics up tomorrow!

I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra scary to me, because there's a large, out-of-focus monster roaming the countryside.

Im not sure on how to check that. They did not specify when i bought the motor. How would i check? I can tell you that teh wiring harness that is cut on the motor is on the right side of the throttle body if you are looking at the engine from the front.

i would NEVER buy a motor with a cut harness. your going to end up spending as much if not more then the clip cost you in the end trying to get all your parts. luckly, manny is parting out a 3s, so give him a ton of cash and he will save your but and make sure you have everything to make the motor run. smile.gif

your turbo looks like a USDM one to me. you can also check to see if you have an EGR on the motor. if it is in fact USDM, you might also want to buy a JDM ecu from manny. thats a 20whp gain, just from that ecu .

Best way to tell if its jdm is by the egr valve... If it isnt there then its a jdm motor...

HAHAHAA... WOW! I bet nobody (myself included) would have thought it would take my lazy ARSE this long to make a move on my motor!!! lol I bought this motor when i was 18 with the intention of having it installed when i bought it...SIIIKKE i fooled myself. I really can not believe that i threw this kind of curve ball at my self, but now is the time to swing away!!

Anyways, for those who have not seen this thread before...whats going on guys. I just wanted to let everyone know that i am bringing rejuvenation to this thread lol. Actually the true reason i am rebuilding my 2nd gen 3sgte is because my stock 5sfe pooped on me about a month ago. The process of taking the motor down and seeing how it looks inside has already began, and the long road ahead looks LONG lol.. to say the least. Anyways, i do have some pics of the progress that has been going on the last couple of weeks.

Hope you guys like what you see, in the mean time i will hopefully be putting it all back together within the next couple of weeks~
**also i will be updating frequently

EDIT- sorry for poor pic quality.. only got a phone

LOL, well its a very slow process to say the least... unfortunately. Hopefully i will have it all put back together and running by the end of the year. Its really hard to do this kind of stuff working 30 hours a week and taking 15 hours of school.

But not to worry, we can def go for a ride. I would even let you drive ( just dont bash) haha! tongue.gif

HAHA, yeah im probably talking out of my ARSE!! lol.

Most likely i will need pics of hose routing, especially since most of mine were cut!

Anyways, i have a small update and i will try to get pictures up tomorrow or the next day of the progress. But we have successfully honed out the block and replaced old pistons with new. Next weekend the head is coming apart to make sure all this hard work wont be for nothing! biggrin.gif

Its a safety feature so that people like you don't end up killing themselves or everyone around them.
Slow down Paul Walker.

Yesssir, remind me of your name? the only people i can really seem to remember their names are Kerri and Joe (and i might be wrong be wrong but DEATH i think is Matt). Yaah, i noticed the DFW area is kind of LACKING in the 6gcelica scene lol. Everytime i see one its either beat to hell... or if they are running they are struggling to go..

IT SICKENS ME frown.gif

BUUT, i have pictures today. My comp decided to work with me this morning..

Work that has been done:

Maaaan, do i let this thread get thrown back into the cob webbs LOL! Well heres a small update, just so i dont fall off again, but its just been too cold outside to work on the motor (pretty lame, but when your used to 80 degrees, 50 makes my hands feel brittle LOL) . Anyways, when i was trying to remove the cam shafts to look at the valves and lifters, i broke a cam shaft bolt (if thats the correct name). I have oredered a couple from the local Toyota dealership and am currently awaiting its arrival. As i wait for the arrival of the bolts and other parts that i ordered wink.gif, all i can really do is take apart my car in its current state (still sitting and collecting dust) and really see why my 5s siezed. Thats all i have for now guys, but everything is coming along SLOWLY, but still coming together none the less.

Hopefully when i get back into town from this christmas break i can really begin to piece the motor back together. I will have pics up soon of the most recent progress.

PS. MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY!
