is that forkee's car on the VIS website???

i wish i could see his car at the socal meet next month

as long as the cf is reinforced while drilling the holes for the spoiler it shouldn't be a problem with mounting one

No you CAN NOT mount a wing on this hatch it is not reinforced to handle that force and you will crack it...

unless you reinforce the hatch with something you will break the hatch (and by this i mean that WHOLE bottom section)

and yes it should fully work with your defroster

3rd edit: yes that forkee's car 99% sure

Mine is still sitting there... I need to find a day when I have time to try to figure out how to put this thing on and hire someone to transfer the glass over...

oh, u probably dont want to put a wing on it. i think theres only a couple of layers of fiberglass on both sides of the carbon fiber....

defrost works

i have the trd wing on my hatch w/o reinforcing it at the moment (just have bigger washers). if you get an aftermarket universal wing than you would have to reinforce the hatch.

the stock/trd wings are made for our cars and provide enough downforce with light drag. so other words the wing is being pushed down into the hatch rather than up and away.

well then i recommend you reinforce that little baby before it does crack...it'd be a shame to see it crack
although i highly doubt stock/trd wings prove any reasonable amount of downforce more then it does drag..

the angle of inclination of an spoiler is what determines what down force it will apply to a car. I don't own a TRD wing but I don't see a very big angle as you can find on a stock spoiler with GT 4 raiser blocks. so I would say that the down force of the TRD wing it's not much. if doesn't push down then....... smile.gif

I have been considering making one for a wile, I really want it because it would make up for the weight of the sub pretty well, but If I did it would have to be painted (dont want the cf look on the rear) and I would not put glass in there, have to get a lexan rear window for it

ok lets think about this.....anyone seen anything that said "wind tunnel tested" on anything in relation to TRD's wing? i sure havn't

and like i said any reasonable amount of downforce/drag
i'm sure it produces both...but i lean more on the creates more drag then downforce...

^ yeah, even though its a TRD wing, its not like they had down force in mind when designing it, its for looks! although i doubt that it has a horrible amount of drag as well, if it does anything performance wise its just gana be because of the weight which ant even that much. its for looks!

at best the downforce it may produce even if highly designed for downforce is not gana make any diff untill your at higher speeds anyway. lets not argue about the wing though not worth it.

I would deff recomend reinforcing the hatch to hold a wing. I have not seen the underside of that hatch but if its maid like my hood is (genuine VIS with under support) its not ment to hold up weight its ment to hold its shape, a few good layers of fiberglass or cf under it would do it good, and not gana add enough weight to matter.
