Speakers not working..., WTF?! Options

I recently got my celi back from painting, and now my speakers don't work. I've already called the shop, and he assured me that touching stereo systems is a MAJOR taboo and they don't do it. I took my faceplate of course, and it IS working, but the speakers won't even hiss at full volume. No signal at all. He is a friend of mine and my dad's so I know he wouldn't do anything like that. All of my speakers are actually there and they are all still wired up correctly, so wtf? Is there a fuse somewhere that just controls the speakers? Any help is appreciated.

first check your interior fuses..

then check the plugs beneath the driver side panel. one of the harnesses are for your speakers. it's the one that comes inside the cabin from the door.

I have to ask my cousin in the morning, but I'm pretty close to positive that I tried the stereo before I even started installing the gauges.

My fuses seem to be okay and I recently removed and plugged back in both door panels, so I know the wiring is okay, and I don't have an amp. Just an Alpine unit and 4 Alpine speakers.
The guy at the shop is supposed to have his stereo guy look at it on Monday morning. I just wanted to know if there was anything that I could do in the meantime.
Another question: Do speakers run in series? because that would at least set my mind a little more at ease to know that it might just be a wire on one rear speaker. that shook loose. I can't see how they COULD run in series but it's worth asking.

no they dont run in series

if none of the speakers work i doubt its anything wrong with the speakers or any wiring from the unit to the speakers, it may be a remote turn on for the factory amp if your running it through that, but thats just a guess.

What and where is that? How could I check that out?

And to answer Coomer's question: Yes I did solve the problem, and my cousin has confirmed that I tried the stereo BEFORE I installed the gauges, so that wasn't the problem. I ended up tapping into the green wire for the dimmer. I grounded it in the bottom left corner on the driver's side at a ground location for something else, so I KNEW it would be a good ground. I charged my battery all day and it's worked fine ever since. I'm thinking I left something turned on. (It WAS 5 in the morning when I went to bed...)

Hi, I've got a slightly different problem: I have just installed a new Alpine, a new amp wiring kit and a sub. All sounded great earlier, now every so often, i cannot hear the front side speakers at all. One day they are fine, the next they don't function. I've checked the harnesses are connected properly and tested with a voltmeter there is current through all the speakers connectors.

What may be the problem?

the factory amp should be under your ac panel, i think the remote wire is grey, but im not sure right now
