from what i've heard most .50 cal rifles are very heavy and not worth the weight and its hard to find/buy bullets for them. Already got a desert eagle so... my .50 cal needs are taken care of.

I figured u meant the M4A1, my knowledge on assult rifles and snipers are very limited, so i assumed the M40A1 and the M4A1 were the same. But we all know what assuming does :-p lol. I've always been a handgun man myself tho, I just recently became interested in snipers so Im still learning. And when I bought my M4 (about a year ago) I had a choice of an AR15, Ak47 (few different models) and a few different M4's. The M4 felt the best to shoot and was most accurate (to me atleast)

you can pretty much do anything you want to them. When I was In the Marine Corps we used them and theyre indestructible. You can pretty much do anything you want with them. Ive seend them with silencers but they look kinda wierd. You can normally find them for right around 2-3 grand. Ive seen them for that price.

when I hit 21 im gonna get my concealed weapons permit, and in florida they passed a law if your life feels threatened you can use lethal force. There have been 7 shootings in the past month that I am aware of where the victim shot at the person and hasn't spent 1 minute in jail or even been fined. So lets just say its for 'protection'

50cal? what fifty cal are you fools talking about theres a few of them.
I assume people are talking about the Barrett Firearms Manufacturing Inc. M82A1? Which would set him back around $7775 retail + tax which is way out of his budget.

heres some infos on the USMC m40

I say get an Accuracy International Arcitc Warfare series go with the ArcticWarfare M(Magnum) in the .338 Lupa mag

TacProShootingCenter is the only retailer I know of that sells Accuracy International Weapons for civilians go figure its in texas.

Guns are nice smile.gif They make loud noises I like loud noises

I wouldve went with the AK47 personally. Reliability boosts my confidence.

it seems like you play a lot of video games if you refer to a Rifle as a 'Sniper' rifle. That mostly implies use against people. You must play Counter-Strike.

Comon now 13k for .50 cal + mount, + bipod, + fitted case.

Itll make loud noises thats for sure, plus i think its considered an anti-material rifle, no soft target shooting for you crazy geneva conventions.

Though I believe they should be available, I can't really think of any use a civilian needs day-to-day for a .50 cal 'sniper' rifle. Even if worse came to worse, that 4,000 dollar rifle that costs over 2.00 a shot wouldn't see too much action (that is IF IF IF there were ever a need for it). There is little that can threaten you from far away enough to be able to shoot it without reprecussions. I doubt a court will uphold that you were threatened from 750yds away.

I'd recommend a nice ar15 fully decked out for about 2,500 or so, plus a lot of rounds and a nice pistol to go along with it.

Smith and Wesson just released a Military and Police series. The sell ar15's as well as polymer pistols in 9mm, .40, and .357

ok so what would you like me to call it? If I said rifle, 80% of the time you would automatically think of an AK or something along those lines. Maybe I should say I want a "Snipers Rifle" as in a rifle a sniper uses? ANd actually I havent played any video games in about 3 years now, so sorry, wrong again. Anywho, stop being an ass, its a thead about guns, not people 'trying' to show off there 'knowledge'

oh, and btw, here is the definition of 'sniper rifle'

sniper rifle

n : an extremely powerful rifle developed for the military; capable of destroying light armored vehicles and aircraft more than a mile away [syn: precision rifle]

ya i know, most civilian guns arent really used that much, I just like to have them and go 2 the shooting range. And when you have a big gun like that alot of it is for braggin rights. Its like having a ferrari, ya theres other cars on the road faster, but its a ferrari, ya know?

just curious..why do you americans like guns so much?? like..why would you spend $4000 on a gun??...honestly. You dont have any thing else to buy, or look forward to? If i had $4000, i would save it and use it later for a down payment on an appartment, or a new car. Or even maybe take a vacation over seas. but $4K on a gun you are gonna use what? once a week to hit a peice of paper? Ill send you $2 and a straw to go buy a pack of paper to make spit balls and hit a peice of paper. Sorry, i just dont understand why any one would need like a hand gun...let alone a sniper rifel.

rant over.

Handgun = personal protection, target shooting

Sniper rifle...not so sure the need, but our Constitution protects the right to own.

Other than that, many Americans enjoy hunting and target shooting. Plus, owning guns is no different than any other hobby. Cars, sports, etc. You don't do them very often, but when you do it's enjoyable.

its a hobby. just like cars, you have a celica, which is perfectly fine, but why did you do modifications? did it really need a new suspension, rims, ect.? add up all the money you spent on your car and think of what you could have done with the money. With guns, they dont really lose much value, so in 5 years I could still sell my desert eagle for well over a $1000. But with cars, you pay say $10,000 for it, in 5 years and 80k miles later, how could you sell it for? anywho my main point is its a hobby. everyone has one smile.gif

DE's are expensive frown.gif Especially the .50AE stupid retail markups One of these days ill get one. But the car is a better hobby for me.

And you are totally right on the hobby. Not everyone buys a gun to go commit a crime, or intentionally kill people. Some people enjoy bow and arrows and spend excessive amounts of money on compound bows, custom made arrows out of lightweight composite materials with fancy synthetic fletchers for more consistency. I would also like to point out the summer olympic sport called "Shooting"
QUOTE
At the Olympics there are 15 events: seven for women and ten for men. The shooting events are divided into four different groups: shotgun, rifle, pistol and running-target events. The shotgun events see competitors shoot at clay targets propelled in different directions. The rifle and pistol events are held on shooting ranges with competitors aiming at targets from distances of 10 metres, 25 metres and 50 metres.
So the generalization that only "Americans" enjoy shooting is bull****. Oh and its been an olympic sport for over a hundred years.

My roommate from college has put like over 10k in one of his neons and he takes it to the strip to race it maybe couple times during the summer. How is that not the same as going to a range and fireing off some bullets? Good launchs, reaction times, shifts are gained by repition, As is compensation for windage, range, and movement of the target in shooting. It comes down to skill. Thats why snipers in the military tend to be the best of the best when it comes to being a marksmen and more often than not those snipers had prior rifle experience before joining the armed forces.

That ends my rant.

Funny I found some world and olympic records. Not that many americans hold the records.
