Its not a Toyota button so no-one can tell what it is untill you find out to where the wires are leading!

looks like the last owner of the car wired something in and tried to hide it. flip the switch and see what it does. im willing to bet its a kill switch for the starter.

its probably a kill switch of some sort.. one of my buddies has a mysterious switch like that too on his acura integra... and it turns his fuel pump on and off. so he has to switch it on in order to start his car..

it's the switch to turn the alarm on and off. flip it up and the alarm is armed, push it down and the alarm is disabled. if the alarm is armed, the little red led to the left of the steering wheel will blink. if not, it'll be solid. of course, the effects don't take place immidieatly. I think you have to start the car and turn it off before it takes effect.

EDIT: wait, it's by the gas pedal? the switch for my alarm is on the other side by the clutch...

be careful...if you flip the switch your neighbors garage door may open and smash their car like in the commercial!

^ bingo, mine has a remote start, and it looks identical. Go through your paperwork for your alarm, and it should have something about a button combo that will start the car. That switch engages, and disengages the remote start function.

So let me get this straight....a theif breaks into your car, alarm a-blarin', and then says hey cool switch *flip*? kindasad.gif

valet switch for a viper alarm, guaranteed. try turning the ignition to "on" (not starting the car) with all the doors closed, flip the toggle, and see if a light goes on/off nearby. on means valet mode (locks/unlocks only), off is alarm mode. same switch on my old celi, different spot. i'd move it so as not to kick the stupid thing out.

laff09, the key has to be in the ignition.

it might be a valet switch if you have an older system installed. don't newer one's have a valet switch in the module as a feature already?

other than that, i'd say it's more likely a kill switch (installed in a bad location) cuz i'm sure most thieves will find it. i'm thinking of having one wired with the seatbelt sensor. cuz honestly, what car thief would waste time to buckle their belts anyway?

Be a pain if you just want to move it a few feet. Or are you one of these people that won't even start the car without first having your seatbelt on? Like my brother-in-law

these are sum retarded responses...

its a dealerinstalled valet switch for your alarm....it doesn't remote start it doesn't blow up, it doesn't make it so it kills your ignition it simply puts the alarm into "VALET mode" so when you use a valet it can be easily moved ect..

you put the key in to the ignition move it over to "ON" but don't start it flick the switch, (up, down, up, down, up) and it will switch modes at least i think thats the right combination its been a long time since i've used it..open your paper work andfind the information on your alarm (its OEM toyota BTW and yes the dealer installed that switch)

if you want i can find my book and scan it in for you
