What oil does everyone use? How do you feel about synthetic oil? I've recently swapped over to it and was wondering how much of a difference maintainence-wise will occur. Thanks for the feedback!

I use the high milage stuff somtimes, as well as gtx... Synthetic is an awsome oil to use, but you should use it or switch to it unless ur under 70k or so.. cause its soo clean it will clean out built up oil that are cloggin seals, which then will make u leak more oil and and burn more.

I've only had my oil changed once (because I've seriously only driven my celi 4K miles since I got it 7 months ago, ha ha), I let a mechanic do it, cause I was lazy, lol. I think he put it like castrol something or other. it probably wasn't a synthetic, probably just the cheap stuff, lol.

but I was wondering about redline high performance oil... is that only seriously for high performance vehicles or could it safely be used in a daily driver?

I used Mobil 1 at 115K on this engine and it started leaking past the front main seal. So back to 10W30 or 15W40 oil made by Viscosity. It still has the zinc phosphate that has been virtually taken out of automotive oils as it deposits the zinc and unbinds the phosphorus that can lead to clogged catylitic converters and phosphoric acid.

This site is still somewhat accurate, and a good read. If I get the time I will scan in the pages from our Dealer manuals (Case IH, New Holland, Krone) that show oil component specifications and resons.
