Hey everyone

I have a few questions I could really use some opinions on, before I go drop a bunch of money. I have a 95 Celica hatchback thats just about bone stock. It's got the 15" wheels yada yada...


Suspension:

1. I've read that alot of people here have and recommend the Tein S-tech lowering springs. If I went with them, would I need other parts as well like new shocks, sway bars etc.?

2. If the car is used as a daily driver, is it comfortable at all?

3. Could I fit 17" wheels after its lowered"

Wheels & Tires:

1. What width and offset on the wheels should I get if I want the tires to be flush with the fenders (not stick out past them)...and not rub? 8" seems to be popular, but I don't have alot of custom street shops here in Missouri to try before I buy.

2. What about tire size with a 17" wheels?

I want to be able to get over speedbumps and into driveways without draggin... so gettin the right combo of suspension, wheels and tires is really important for me. Thanks for any input you can give me.

if you lower any car, most the time you will feel the road sort of speak...any bump will be noticable compared to stock, new shocks help, new sway bars will greatly help with turns, yes you can put 17s and lower, some have 18 and lowered.

most people like the s-techs cause theyre cheap.
i prefer the eibach sportlines.
if the struts(rear)/strut inserts(front) have never been replaced, while your doing the springs is the perfect time to do so. if your old struts are not dead yet, they will more than likey not last long once you install the springs with them.

with the drop, there is an increse in harshness. how much is greatly affected by tire+rim combo.

yes, or larger if you wanted to.

in order to truley make them "flush" you'll need to roll your fenders.
a 17X8 rim with an offset around 32-35 will be really close especially with a drop and anything larger than a 215/40 size tire.

2. What about tire size with a 17" wheels?

for me, ive had 3 diffrent tire sizes on the 17x7" rims, with a 35 offset. 205/40, 215/40, and now 225/45.
i noticed a HUGE diffrence in the way the car looks, feels and drives with the bigger tires.
imo it looks much better, you can barely fit your finger in verticly between the tire and wheelwell.
ride quality is about as close to stock as your gonna get without being stock..lol
acceleration with them is a tiny bit slower, but for me, with the 5sfte, it dont hurt me at all.
the 225's actually raised the whole car up a little, and i like that as well. i can actually fit my floor jack under the front of the car again!

here is what i would do...

spring = eibach sportlines.... tein are ok, but way too low for my taste.

shocks= get new kyb oem replacements. old stocks on a lowered car go in a few months time. so do the job once and do it right.

wheels= 17x8 35offset

tires = 225-45-17

If you are going with a 8" wide rim, I would get 235/40/17. The sidewall is about the same as a 215/45/17 and the tire patch and wheel size (gearing) will be better.

i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.
