It looks like it could accually work. It wouldn't produce as much boost as a real turbo but still. Might have to upgrade your alternator or tweak it to produce more power. Plus you would probably guzzle gas like a mofo, and maybe loose a battery or 2 much quicker than you'd think.
Thats my thoughts I read it some more. If you look at the text more "A 2000CC ENGINE WILL ONLY REQUIRE 7HP FROM THE CRANK TO MAKE 5-6 PSI, SO VIRTUALLY NO PARASITIC LOSSES MEANS A HUGE AMOUNT OF POWER WHEN BOOSTING." ya for a big ol' engine like that sure no loss but your only going to get around 5 PSI boost. As I quote again "THE STANDARD SETUP IS DESIGNED FOR 5 PSI, BUT WITH SIMPLE PULLEY AND BEARING UPGRADES BOOST LEVELS OF **12-15 PSI CAN BE REACHED." So 2000 bucks for 5 psi.. Uhh no scam. I think it's a really cool idea. The alternater thing is a good idea for people who don't like to mess with things. And I know there is a lot out there. I wouldn't get one of these because I feel I can make one cheaper. All you really need is that haff turbo thing. I might try that. I think it's overpriced, but I think everything is over priced. It seems like it would need oil some way or another, but then again, an alternater works just fine with only grease. I might just try this thing.

I'm in contact with them and let you know. You can actually buy the turbo-like thing only and they will also supply an alternator pulley to extend a belt to drive the turbo at the front.
It is the best way to go as we have much more space in front of the alternator that at the back of it. They have no website but are quick in replying. I am waiting for them to quote a price for the turbo-like thing and pulley only. I've never heard of a $300 turbo setup but I'm interested in this for 3 reasons: 1. That thing will only give 5 psi to my 3s-ge (10.5:1 compression) engine so will run more engine fiendly then a turbo 2. I would reduce traction issues as there is no "turbo kick" the boost will be pregressive 3. Its never been done on the 3s-ge (or nearly never). Will let you know |

Will let you know heres the company that makes the device boosthead this company also produces high power electric superchargers. this is the first ive seen their new product. looks like a clever idea, and i might just have to look into this as an option. no doubt it would work as the concept isnt new. there are vehicle specific centrifugal supercharger systems for sale already by vortech, procharger, etc. you can even buy "universal" kits scroll down for universal kit however, the idea of using the aftermarket alternator with 2 pulleys is more compact and makes it look to be an easier install with less fabrication required. if it wasnt for the price, itd be more appealing. 1500 (or 1700 direct) plus intercooler, piping, injectors, fmu, fuel pump, etc and you could of found a st185 clip. depends on the individuals goals. obviously slapping this on a 7afe isnt going to compare with a swap. in your case having a 3sge already though with your goals, id say go for it. hmmmm, might not be too far behind you -------------------- ![]() I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra scary to me, because there's a large, out-of-focus monster roaming the countryside. |

What was on here before? Whats the best way forced induction wise to get decent quality boost without having to completely modify your engine. I am willing to spend around 1500 maybe, tahts actually pushing it. Any thoughts?
