So its getting that time in my life when i need to choose a college, and every Summer of my life i go to San Diego to visit family, but I live in Michigan. I love going to Cali, and I have always had a dream of going to college there. I have to make a decision, The company I work for will partly sponsor me to go to kettering institute (used to be general motors institute), but I still want to go to Cali. I know a lot of people on this site are from SoCal, so if you could give me some input that would be cool. I have a 3.98 GPA and I take like all college prep classes, so hopefully getting in wouldnt be a problem. I was thinking like USC, or san diego state. I heard that you get tuition for cheaper if you establish residency, is that true? Another consideration is I would probably have to sell the car... frown.gif

Opinions PLEASE!!

Dang! With that GPA you whould be juuuuuust fine, if not more.

Yes, tuition is cheaper if you establish residency (big hint: use your family's Cali address wink.gif )

I used to live in Cali, and was supposed to go to college there, I just never made it, lol. (I got a scholarship to stay here.) Anyways, San Diego State is a huge party university, so if you like parties, that might count for something smile.gif

University of Souther Cali....eek, private schools, bleh. Who's paying, by the way? That'll be pricey even if you're a resident. I personally wouldn't go there, too upper-class White for me (I'm white, I just can't stand the spoiled kids that I think I'd find there...)

Most importantly, make sure that where you go offers the major or majors you are interested in, don't force yourself into something just because its at a school you want to go to...

And have fun! Go on collegeboard.com and see what you find. Personally, California State Universtiy Northridge was my first choice, but look for what suits you!

(Bring the Celi with you wink.gif )

i got a cousin in sdsu. total party school. they go down to mexico like every other week. but he still manages to pull at least a 3.5 gpa. dunno how he does it. anywho, cali is cool. i say you come here. but then again, i know nothing about michigan so my opinion is kinda bias. hope you can still keep your car if you come here.

hmmm?
it depends on the whole purpose you have for even wanting to come to Cali... SD is a huge party school i have friends there and TJ is $12 away, even if you are drunk there is a train that is $6 each way from SD. If you want to have a good time and party it up while getting a decent education, then i think USC or SDSU would, unless your focus is entirely school then i would say stay, unless there is something that is holding you back in MI.. Def. establish residency if you come to California the difference in tuition would be $K's...

I just left SD to go to Marquette University in Milwaukee... SD is cool, but incredibly over rated sometimes. I guess it all depends on what you like. Every where is going to have partys, and if you do go to TJ be careful because if a cop there ever throws you in jail you will be hating life. I have a few friends that go to SDSU, USD, UCSD, USC, and other random cali schools and they all love it.
