Well I am trying to decide what size wheels I would like to buy for my 94 celica GT. I like the Porsche 911 look with wider tires in the rear. I believe those are 11 wide in the rear that probably won't fit on the celica. My car is at stock ride height. I am not sure on either 17" tall or 18". But my main question is on width I am thinking either.

-Fronts 8"-8.5" wide
Rears 9"-10" wide

-I am willing to role the fender lip to fit a wider tire or * would one be able to fit a wider tire in the rear if they changed the offset so it doesn't stick out too far and hit the outer fender?

-What is the first thing the tire would come in contact width on the inside of the tire on the inside sidewall. Is it the rear strut shock or something else that limits how far the rim or tire can go towards the middle of the car? ( I am not able to look at my car as I am working over the road!) I have a welder at home and am willing to make some easier mods to fit a wider rim in the rear.

-I am also wondering if a wider rim in the rear will affect handling, driving, in any way? I don't feel 1 inch would have a large impact...... ANy ideas......Thanks in advance..... Any pics of this area would be great......

I don't think there's any way you could go much wider than 8.5 front or rear on the 6th gen without going widebody lol

why would you want more tire on the non drive and non steering wheels? that seems like it would just worsen understeer.

In a FWD I don't suggest using wider rims/tires in the rear, even though it may look better. I would go with an 8" width all the way around, remember you have to drive this car, not just look at it!
