In my opinion I see mostly most imports will all show-no go. Personally I dont think too many people in the states bother with motor work, at least where I live. Plus most people just get Civic's anyways.

i don't think its dyin out, its just being a little more discreet. I went street racing the other night, i know; not smart, but most of the guys out there were cool. It was awesome to be able to hang out and run with guys who just wanted to run their cars, no egos that night. No punks who with egos bigger than their spoilers!!! Just guys who want to chill and have some fun.

maybe almost everything has been done now. I mean TV in the head rests, ETC ETC ETC. i know after being to a couple car shows its basically the same thing just diffrent cars. If you want to see where the tuner world is at, go to your local drag strip..mannn i love it there espically when a V8 camero rips through the strip

yea just our local fair grounds 1/8 mile track...they just use the strait part of a circle track..the sti beat the viper in the 1/8..but that viper was pulling strong about 4/5 of the way down the track.

iam telling you....if you want to see some while ****. Forget about car shows and ****. Go to a Track and watch some tuner cars beat V8s. And usually people will let you look at the car and see under the hood if you ask.

I think you hit the nail on the head! I too have noticed this trend but its not that import tuning is dying, its just that people are becoming more aware that their cars can be taken away. at least in cali for that matter. Ive been to a few car meets recently (not street races) and the turn outs are substantially smaller than about 2years ago. Before the swap was looking forward to showing off my work at meets but i find myself telling people that i have a turbo charged celica, rather than showing them. Im paranoid of cops showing up to these meets and pulling people over.

I have the feeling more and more people are feeling this way my friends are all looking for the quiet upgrade or the subtle bodykit... not sure if thats a good or a bad thing. kindasad.gif

although i have seen less wings lately biggrin.gif

"IMPORT/TUNER CULTURE DYING??, heard NOPI in atlanta SUCKED ARSE!"

i dont think its fair to base the current status of something like this on a single event or a group of events of just one fasset of a broader culture.... i actually hope the show/drag scene starts falling back out of the mainstreem eye, loose some of the fad of it and get "back to basics" as some would say.

here in the south nobody cares about emissions, its all about street racing, which has been known to be absolutley CRAZY! cops made a big bust now noobdy comes out. i want to talk to the police about closing a street for us but i can never get hold of a cop, im going to have to go to a precient.

and im not basing my judgement over a few shows, ive been to nopi drag spots at the rock (rockingham nc) where that toyota drag car flipped on tunervision. there was NO turnout compared to years past. i think it just may be a charlotte thing. people dont want to drive an hour or 30 min to a 1/8 track. they rather stay in the city limits and get caught street racing....(dumbasses) rolleyes.gif

out these parts it seems some folks {my son and his posse} its more about performance than looks, Maybe thats why those car shows are kinda lame.

local 1/8 mile has some tuners that run well... but mostly big V8's and bikes.

Sons next ride will be a 04 WRX bone stock..

idk if anyone noticed, but a lot of stores just stopped carrying Import Tuner magazine. I don't read it, but my friend called me a few days ago and was pretty upset about it haha. But i think that the import/tuner culture isn't dying, but it IS changing. People are always trying to be different and ahead of the game. So they move on the the next new thing.

I think the tuner scene is dying. The only reason why it came up is becuz of Fast and Furious promoted it... in the wrong way ofcourse. After FaF, everyone wanted a Supra, RX7, Eclipse, etc. and hook it up and street race. It just killed everything. But I'm guessing there isn't enough promotions going on around anymore besides car shows... So yep, it's dying. There is my 2 cents.

i think it is slowing down.. because just like most people.. they find soemthing interesting.. dive into it.. then get tired of it and move to the next thing.. .but i'm still having so much fun working on my car and tryint to improve it and make it unique..

so maybe with less going to car shows i'll have a better chance of winning trophies :-)

In pittsburgh though i don't see it dieing down. every friday and saturday if u go at the right time at heinz field there are mass tuners that use the four lane road as a drag strip. what i belive is that it's going back underground. u will always find that one car driving around that u no has the hook up. just look at dg, henry, and consynx.
