smile.gif Hi I was just wondering how would you get a celica to out perform a ferrari 360 modena and a lamborghini diablo? Some people have told me that it was possible. And granted that nothing really is impossible, so I was going to toss this out here in the forum room to get your opinions. Some of the people that I talked to told me that my '94 Celica ST could perform on the same level or even better than a ferrari 360 modena.

I love my celica but I am the type of person that wants a car that is powerful and stylish enough to look and out handle and out perform any thing on the street (custom or not). And also I like the statement that it gives that is why I want to out do a ferrari 360 modena.

No crap tall fast and the furious customizations please. And definitely no rice a roni (aka nos).

You'd want a 3S-GTE engine like edo17982 said and spend a lot of money on new internals, a bigger turbo, upgraded tranny, etc. Also, you would probably need to convert your car to all wheel drive, because it's hard to get a ton of horsepower to the ground in a front wheel drive car.

There is probably a big weight difference am i right? Im sure it matters almost next to nothing considering the power they have but its nice when like I race a gt stang (4.6L) and i stay close at first because of the power to weight ratio even tho it ends up killing me cuz of the lack of torque frown.gif

would it cost around the same amount of money to turn a FWD car into a RWD as it would a AWD???

With sixth generation Celicas, I'd guess that it would be easier to convert the car to AWD than RWD, since the GT-Four is AWD, and there isn't a RWD model.

umm...

How about you do some research about your car first

I would say yea that its possible

you could get a nova to outperform a ferrari.

I will break it down for you.

Keep in mind this is for parts NOT labor. And doesnt include shipping.

Front AND Rear Clips of an ST205: $4500 ship from Georgia. www.jarcoinc.com

Motec 4: not sure on price but i would say $3000+ (its a stand alone engine management computer..gets rid of stock ECU) www.motec.com

Blitz Turbo Upgrade : $3300. Uses KKK K3T turbo stainless steel manifold and comes with 3 inch downpipe. www.wholesalehyperformance.com

Jun Stroker Kit: $5128 Ship from Japan www.takakaira.com (crankshaft, connection rods, pistons, piston rings

Jun Camshaft Kit: $3200 Ship from Japan. www.takakaira.com (camshafts, cam sprockets, valves, valve retainers.

Jun Valve Guides: $219 Ship from Japan. www.takakaira.com

Apexi AVC-R Boost Controller: $496 www.apexi.com

C-One Lightweight Aluminum Flywheel : $325.69 Ship from Japan http://www.c-one.co.jp/C-ONEPARTS/flywheel.html

HKS Fuel Regulator: $124. Ship from Japan. www.takakaira

Bosch Fuel Pump: $444. 223 lph. Ship from Japan. www.takakaira.com

HKS Silent Hi-Power Exhaust : only $597. Ship from Japan. www.takakaira.com

HKS Twin Power Distributor Ignition: $494 Ship From japan. www.takakaira.com

HKS Iridium Spark Plugs: $27/plug. Ship from Japan. www.takakaira.com

HKS Multi Plate Clutch Kit: $2295.00 Ship from USA http://www.hksusa.com/products/?id=738&rsku=0

TRD Quickshifter: $180 (thanks coomer) Ship from USA www.trd.com

Cusco Type OS Front Strut Bar: $128. Ship from Japan. www.takakaira.com

Cusco Type OS Rear Strut Bar: $128. Ship from Japan. www.takakaira.com

Tein (tane) Type HA Damper: $2,240 Ship from USA or Japan. www.tein.com

Some Lightweight Rims like Volk TE-37 17 x 8.0: $575/Rim

Nitton Neo Gen Tires: I would estimate $400/Tire

FMIC: Around $1,000 for a decent sized one and custom mandrel piping
So the Grand Total before installation, shipping, tuning, dyno runs, etc.

$31,806

Not bad.

I would say with shipping plus installation, tuning, dyno runs, etc.

$45,000

Now if you happen to run across that much money. You would probably have the baddest car in North America.

edit: i took out the noob part...and also added something about a FMIC

you forgot a hell of an upgraded front mount IC. the st205 water/air one won't support past like 450 HP.

u cant outperform a ferrari 100% even wif all the mods gt2gt4 gave. i mean~~~ it's a ferrari. and if u'd give it to a magazine and tell them to test drive both cars.

first. i doubt they'll put down ferrari.
second. i doubt they'll even bother comparing both
third. if they do... well. we'll hab to see.

in addition. if u've got nuff doe to make a celica as close as good to a ferrari. u mite juss buy one.

i doubt that a ferrari weighs much more than a GT4.

aside from that, with $45,000 your car will atleast be on par with one in terms of handling and acceloration, up until a certain point.

you would need to change all the gearing in order to make a GT4 celica go as fast as most new ferraris can go(and they are crazy on top end and staying there). and then it would lose almost all of its acceloration

if you want to take on a ferarri, go and buy an 87 testarossa and modify that. that car can be had for about $50k-$60k

ummm

those parts n accesories that i listed.

are pretty much the top of the rung for performance and quality manufacturing when it comes to a 6th gen celica.

with all those parts you have the potential for 800+hp.

so i mean umm yea.

This thread almost made me laugh biggrin.gif

Come on guys this is a bit of a stilly question. The cars are designed for completely different purposes. This thread is based on what ifs. I mean I'd love to have $50k to spend on a celica, but in reality I don't think ANYONE except for a race team has/will do this. We haven't even seen an AWD conversion, let alone a project this size.

I'm sure with the right resources it could be done, hell you could beat a ferrari in a go kart if you spent enough money on the go kart.

Edit - The only country where big money is (or was as they are getting old) spent on celicas is in japan, but they have a head start with the AWD already.

ok every one is saying 3sgte that enging is not going to hold up to a ferrari.. you best be is a V6 and get it to push out close to 700 HP... the get a better suspenson the we already have... then you going to have to a retuned transmission to handle the power and use it the right way...

Ok guys...
look at it this way the 360 modena (I LOVE that car) is a 3.6 L V8 with 400 HP
and the 3sgte is a 2.0 L i4 with 250-255 HP, now the ferrari is only only 300 pounds heavier than the 6g but if ur going to mod the car u can get a 6gen under 2200 lb.
GT2GT4 - man just reading those parts made me drool...imagine all that under the hood of ur average 6g celi gt haha. Oh yeah and the Modena costs $152,000 USD, and what GT2GT4 is suggesting would cost about $55 000 including the car and u could still spend about 5 grand on details like suspension and gearing. so with about 60 grand u could have an 800 HP (yes 800, with the parts listed and with mild tuning u should have no trouble achieving that, Port everything u can and this turns into 800 HP at the wheels) AWD Beast that could take on most ne car. if u really want to go and race a ferrari like a week from now get a 3sgte get the biggest turbo u can, strip the interior and get the biggest nitrous shot u can (I personaly dislike that method, like the man said its ricey) and u should be able to keep up with it.
Ferraris are sweet but you gotta respect our celi. given enough money ne thing is possible however and you could make ne car that fast. But few would have the looks that that rival the top exotics like ferraris. by the way an 800 whp celi that weighs around 2200 lb would run mid to low 8's and the 360 modena runs 12.8 on the quarter. Plus ur car would handle almost as well so u could win no matter what the race.

pretty much the 360 is the looker of the ferrari bunch, not as performance geared as the rest, but they concintrated on style, which they did a faboulus job on it. if you have a real good driver in the celica and a really poor driver in the 360, then a celica can already out perform it, i remember spedtoe talking about an oldschool VW beating a diablo at one of the solo events he went to.

ya i remember that guy in the diablo was a horrible driver

i think that Geo Metros were getting better times in the autocross event than the diablo

and in response to swifys post

i already put suspension in there

i would estimate 48,000 with all those parts installed in your car. tuned to the highest capability and some new gears for the awd tranny. you could have 800hp easily.

Thanks yal, After seeing how much some of that equipment cost I THINK no I DO BELIEVE that the ferrari I was going to show off with or against it can just stay away from me. I think I will just admire the man from a distance.

Because unfortunately I have about 5000 dollars that I had recently bet somebody I could out perform a Celica GTS and a Corvette 50th anniversity edition. My car amazingly did it but that was only thinks to the handling and my new tires. All of the racing was on the track in the rain undredibly.

But thanks for the advice on the parts. I don't think I want to be doing all of that to my car.

Look at it this way, since the 3S is only 255 stock it sure can be increased. 400HP is moderately achieveable. 500-600hp is what you want.

To all of you who say its better to buy a Ferrari, I tell you this: bullcrap. A swapped in GT-Four engine and tranny with the upgrades Matt said (plus more if you want crazy 1000+ HP), you could kill the Ferrari. By the way, think about how much those over-hyped vehicles cost. The cost of the Celica just off the parts Matt gave you (and their are pleanty more) is only a piece of what the stock Ferrari costs. Think if you took ALL of the cash that it takes to buy a Ferrari and dropped it into the Celica, the Celica would be the greatest vehicle in the world. Celicas rule. Ferraris suck. End of discussion.

HAHAH! I love you guys mang..you guys are soo funny LOL.

Bottom Line: Money can make you fast.

For Instance.....you could have 35K to spend and have a 13B Rotory dropped into a Geo Metro....daynm wouldnt that be fast. But I think the point is the prestige and the outright stock performance of a Ferrari that gives that wow factor.......screw it im not going into a long article again.....CELICAS RULE.....especially 6G's.....end of discussion.

Hey, to all the people who are saying to just go out and buy a ferrari, what the hell? How do you think this car culture was developed? By trying new things, most of you idiots have forgotten that. I like what GT2GT4 is saying, let the man try it. If no one was trying new things then this hobby would be filled with all civics and integras, and nobody wants that. Sure, you can go out and buy a prestigous Ferrari, but why not try something new. Just when you think everything has been done, somebody needs to through together something different. I say do it, plus take it to shows and just wait till all the attention flies your way.

well, I usually like to stay neutral, but if there's one person here that bothers me its gt2gt4 or Igotta5sfe turbo, whatever you call him.

to me, he seems like a wannabe, but he is not really a noob

the reason I call him a wannabe is because when he first came to celica.net he had some other dude's car on his sig!!! even though he apologized for it, I hardly believe a word he says!!!

lets look at some other facts.

he claims that he has the burien turbo kit, but it's his girlfriends car!!!

who would post 1500 posts on a forum about his girlfriends car?

then who would decide to spend at least another 5 grand to turn his g/f's car into a gt-4?

he claims to have bought the front and rear clips off of a gt-4 from jarco.

so he has basically dumped probably 8 grand into a car that isn't even his!!! WTF!!

and I'm just questionable about the eclipse he says is his in his sig

I love this site, and its easy as hell to get along with almost everyone, but he just gets under my skin

sorry to vent, and sorry if I'm being an ass

ya well w/e

first thing

i dont have a picture of any car in my sig at celica.net..never have ever either

2nd

pay attention.

the celica USED TO BE MINE

you are right why the f*ck would i come to the site so much

i sold the car to her

i bought the turbo kit before i knew anything about the 3s-gte and that you could swap it in. do you think i would buy the turbo if i knew i could do that... and i also bought the clips before i sold the car as well...

and about the eclipse i could care less if you believe if i have one or not

I have multiple pictures from multiple angles so umm how about we keep this topic for what its meant for.

but apparently, you are "working on that now" why would you spend even more money after you sold the car.

and as far as the pics go. post 'em, you can even post yourself flipping me off for all I care, I just want to see the car and the clips.

because part of the cost of the car that she paid me included the work to do the swap and possibly the AWD conversion

and i enjoy working on cars especially celicas

so can we stop the argueing???

if there is anything else lets just leave it to PM's because I am sure that you feel the same way, this is pointless

-Seth

p.s. you all know if you were about to pump 50g + into a car you wouldent put it in your celica. Honestly i would probly put it into a VW GTI VR6, or a Supra... but yeah

Cause I would rather a 6 cylander than a 4 if i was going to dump that much moeny in it... and i LOVE the new VWs. I have a friend with a GTI turbo and it smokes most cars in my area... And no its not as good as a supra, but you could buy a brand new GTI for the price of a 94 tt... sooooooo who knows

Tell that to the next supermodel chicka you try to pick up in Monte Carlo... smile.gif

ditto, at least NEVERSTOP posted "in progess ( rolleyes.gif )" pics of his car. It's July now, his supposed bodyshop work should've been done by now, considering his 'awd conversion' was finished back an entire year ago. But, I've never seen gt2gt4 (igotta5fse-turbo) actually ever post any pics at all...when someone else on a msg board posted a pic of a red hot turbo, he was like "i'd be worried if that happened" whereas everyone else was like "yeah, mine gets that hot sometimes, it's normal"

I'd marry a Celica with a Ferrari's pricetag under the hood before I even dated a Super-model.
