Ok.. fire it up.. when cold it idles fine.. about 1100-1200... as it warms up.. the idle goes up.. and then **** starts to get bouncy and it's just not running right.

I did a check for vac. leaks.. Pretty sure there is none.. But I checked the timing.. bridged E1 and TE1.. used the light.. It's right on 10BTDC... so that's fine... No check engine light when engine is on.. but when I turned it off and I left the jumper wire in to check for codes.. I got code 12

"No G1, G2 or NE signal is input to the ECU for 2 sec. or more after STA turns on."

This might be why the RPM reading on my Apexi AVC-R is only telling me 200rpm when the tach is reading above 1500rpm? I think I noticed that sometimes when I rev it, I see the Apexi reading shoot up to the actual RPM value but then it quickly returns to crap.

Also once it warms up it doesn't like to rev up past 2K unless I smack the throttle good.. otherwise it hits 2K and then chokes.

Any idea's???

Also I should note that this is a 2nd gen motor, fully rebuilt.. using a GT28 turbo.. FMIC, stock AFM... Um.. Distributor is the original.. I did the wiring up on it myself.. I am using the Alltrac fuel pump and the resistor pack for the injectors and the fuel pump relay and resistor pack.. all that normal crap is in there..

I reset engine codes by leaving the battery disconnected for a while.. started it back up.. no more codes... However, it's idling high.. like 1500rpm.. I tried adjusting that little piece on the idle air control valve.. has 2 screws holding it down.. that didn't do jack...

Any idea's as to why it's idling so high? It starts off fine when it's cold.. like 1100rpm.. then as it warms up the idle goes up..

Also if I go to rev it and give it any less than like.. 1/4 throttle.. it'll bog down a **** ton... If I give it more than 1/4 throttle it'll rev up fine... Any idea's on this?

high idle and bogging down like that normally happens when u have a pretty big vac leak somwhere.

sounds like o2 sensor or coolant temp sensor.. some kind of sensor that the computer only takes readings from when it goes into open loop

I found a small vac leak on the idle air control valve plumbing and I plugged that up...

It's running better.. the wideband is reading much better AFR ... however the idle continues to raise when I start the car up.. as the engine heats up the idle goes up.. and as it starts to hit around 2K the engine starts to cut out... RPM drops a few hundred then bounces back to 2K... then drops... then comes back..

Sounds like you still have a vacuum leak. You're hitting fuel cut at 2000 RPM and the fuel return is at 1600 that is why it is bouncing back and forth. When you go past 1/4 throttle you're opening the IDL and E2 connection disabling that fuel cut mechanism allowing you to rev the engine just fine.
http://www.celicatech.com/imagearchive/bgb...rac/FI/FI98.htm

Keep looking for those vacuum leaks. It might be as simple as an open vacuum line or it may be more complicated like an intake manifold gasket. Let's hope it's not the latter.

EDIT: Also try unplugging the IAC's electrical plug so that the IAC is half closed... It's suppose to close as the engine gets warmer and it sounds like it's opening instead... You may have the RSC and RSO wires backwards. Also try just plugging the IAC hose with your finger. If it's not the IAC its probably just the heat causing the area that is leaking to expand creating the rise in RPM.

Well, when it hits 2K and drops down I see on my wideband that the engine goes **** lean.. then it recovers and the AFR goes back to 12's-13's.. then it hits 2K.. same thing over and over unless I hit the throttle good..

Also I tried to disconnect the IAC.. nothing at all happened/changed...

Oh another thing, I hear the fuel pump relay clicking every now and then as well...

Yup, that's all part of the fuel cut.

If you're 100% sure that all of your vacuum lines are hooked up and in the right place I'd check your TB and intake manifold gaskets and make doubly sure that your IAC is on tight and sealing correctly. There is air entering the engine somewhere past the throttle body plate.

Your PCV and Vacuum source are all plumbed in post AFM pre turbo correct?

The only thing I have piped into the intake is the IAC line.. and yes that is post AFM pre-turbo.

I might be jumping the gun here but I'm almost certain I fixed it up.

First thing was, I put a clamp on the hose feeding the IACV... that lowered my idle... so I assumed that the IACV was stuck open... more on this later.

Next thing I did was adjust the TPS... with the IACV hose completely clamped shut I had to use 7% throttle to keep the engine going and reach 2K RPM... no stutter out this time.

So I adjusted the TPS.. loosened the clamp on the IACV hose.. so the engine would idle but lower... turned engine on.. came up to like 1500rpm.. then I slowly put throttle on like before.. hit 2K.. went past 2K.. no problem. The Apexi AVC-R was telling me I was putting down 2% throttle... How truely accurate that is, doesn't matter.. I was barely touching the throttle like before when I was having issues.. now I no longer have said issues!

So then I ripped the IACV off.. tried to move the valve inside and it was stuck!!

Thanks for everyones help/idea's with the issue.. I will report later or tomorrow to confirm if everything is good or not.

So I had to rip the whole valve apart and cleaned it out with carb cleaner.. moves smooth and freely now. I am going to seal it back up and this should fix me problems smile.gif

Rev's no problem now and the idle is perfecto.
