This is insane. I think the tigers should be taken out of the world series for that. Rogers is a cheating pos. That pisses me off so badly that the upires caught him and the coaches didnt say ****. If i was the Cards coach i would have been on that feild cursing up a storm. I hate cheaters. I hope Kenny Rogers breaks his arms. Bastard.

Did you watch Sportscenter, or anything? He didn't "cheat". Pine tar is used for grip, not for ball manipulation. Most pitchers use it, they just hide better. It's not cheating. If you think that is cheating, then the batters using pine tar to grip their bats is also cheating.

John yes i did watch sports center and it is cheating. Pitchers are not supposed to use any foregin substance to aid pitching. ESPN showed a quote from the rules that clearly stated that.

PENALTY: For violation of this part of this rule the umpires shall immediately call a ball. However, if the pitch is made and a batter reaches first base on a hit, an error, a hit batsman or otherwise, and no other runner is put out before advancing at least one base, the play shall proceed without reference to the violation. Repeated offenders shall be subject to a fine by the league president.
(2) expectorate on the ball, either hand or his glove;
(3) rub the ball on his glove, person or clothing;
(4) apply a foreign substance of any kind to the ball;

(b) Have on his person, or in his possession, any foreign substance. For such infraction of this section (b) the penalty shall be immediate ejection from the game. In addition, the pitcher shall be suspended automatically for 10 games. "

He was clearly cheating.

it's just like using the chalk bag for grip...he had the stuff on his hand, he didn't apply it to the ball. if he did, it caused no unnatural movement, and would be no different than chalk coming off the hand onto the ball. even after he cleaned it off, he still beat them, and he's been a hall of famer for YEARS. besides, you're just looking for an excuse as to why your over-paid yankees lost. :-P.

and as kruk or w/e said, all the pitchers do it, rogers just didn't hide it very well.

I've already spoken my feelings about the Yankees. I know why we lost. I'm not blaming that on Rogers. I just don't like cheating.
No this is not like a chalk bag. If it was the umpires wouldnt have confronted him about it. If you look at pictures from the other games in the postseason you can see the same substance on his hand. Watch how he's always putting that same hand under his hat before he pitches. It's clear for any idiot to see that he was cheating to say otherwise is foolish. It's written right there in the MLB Rules in black and white. You can't argue with that.

it's the same as a chalk bag. applied to the hand, it helps grip. it doesn't cause any unnatural movement. that's the arguement as to why they weren't punished. obviously if it's good enough for the MLB, it's a good enough argument against their own rules.
