I recently got a new air fuel gauge and ive been monitoring the car for a week now. At first it was running fine, just a little bit rich but not out of the ordinary. As of monday though, the car has been running REALLY rich and the weird thing is my BOV doesnt sound off as loud as it did last week! Im still boosting correctly but the sound is not as piecing as it was. even at wot you could bearly hear it now.
Any way i wen into the engine bay, looking for a loose vac line and i found this: ![]() Im not sure why its loose or if it was attatched to something to begin with. the hose you see was just dangling. I dont remember this when i was doing the swap ![]() ![]() |

it would help if you had a zoomed out pic that shows where that hose leads.
start the car and put your finger over that hose. if you feel suction then thats probably the source of your problem. -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned

Heres a better pic of the sensor. I had to coil up the hose cause it was too long. Anyway you see the sensor has two nipples that look like they hold vaccum. One of them is connected to the hose im holding and the other is open as you can see in the pic. what is it supposed to hook up to? thanks again! If it helps the sensor is connected to the firewall. ![]() without writing: ![]() This post has been edited by eggman40: Nov 2, 2006 - 6:46 PM |

your motor must be from an mr2?
it kind of looks like the AC idle up valve, but not 100% the same as the one i have. it would normally go to a round valve that goes to the intake manfold, if thats what it is. -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned

No, my motor is from a 92 JDM alltrac. If it is the AC idle valve, does it have to do with the cars idle? becuase right now my motor is idling high? Im gonna try to research this more, now that i have a name. Thanks |

yeah, a leak would change your idle.
just look around that area of where on the motor it came off from. you should hear it hissing, and your vac readings should be low. -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned

Thanks i will be doing that today. I found these vac diagrams earlier, but im having a little trouble making sense of them. Can you tell what its supposed to look like, the 5sfe is about a 1/4 of the way down which should be close to the 3sgte ![]() http://www.celicatech.com/imagearchive/bgb...ch/VACUUM_D.PDF |
