OK this is probably a clueless question, but is there a way to remove the AFM on my 2nd gen st185 3sgte? I have been told the st205 runs on a map sensor, but im not sure what i would need to do to get rid of the AFM on my 3sgte so that i can do a more interesting intake set-up.

also are there and pro's or con's to doing this?

thanks

to run without a afm you need to switch over to air speed /density system.
it uses an air intake temp sensor and a map sensor and makes the fuel calculation based on them (air temp and pressure) not flow, so if u have a boost leak it will be harder to find, but wont hinder performance as much.
For REAL high hp the afm might be come a restriction also. but ATS says at around 300hp it doesn't effect anything.

most aftermarket ems have this option to switch.

basically ur stock afm has a temp sensor and a swinging door, depending on how far the air pushes the door open and the air temp is how the afm gives the ecu info fuel.

so now if u have a boost leak and air is entering or exiting after the afm (allowing unmetered air in, or metered air out) your cars tune is gunna be out of wack. and drive pretty nasty. with air speed /density you might not even notice blowing a intercooling pipe off except by the lack of power.

i have horrible writing skills lol. hope this helps.
