I'm rocking Bostons Acoustic S60s in my doors. Some damn good speakers right there. Crystal and Rainbow are supposedly damn good too, but i don't have much experience or info on'em.
the Bostons are 6.5" and they fit with a bracket. you can fit 8" woofers in the door as well, so it's totally up to you. -------------------- -Alex {](O_o)[}

I have pioneer 3 ways and they sound really good, even after a few years of playing really loud all the time:) They are pretty cheap too, compared to a lot of other speakers.

Best speakers for Sound Quality is definetly Focal (K2P165). But dont know if you want to pay that much for a composet. I paid about €400-430 for them 2 years ago, never was I dissapointed about them! But I dont think they are sold in the US (French company)

i second the pioneer idea, i have a set of 6 1/2 3-ways and a set of 6*9 3-ways and i love the sound, even for the price. i think you can get a set for about 40 bucks some places!

okay...so heres waht im thinking as of this moment
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=14797 that amp will power the 4 speakers http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=14553 and those speakers.......now what im wondering is.....whats the key diffrence between: Pioneer & Pioneer Premier like whats the diffrence between the premier speakers ^ and these http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=14530 besides the fact that the reg one or hte blue ones im getting 4 of them for $60 as opposed to $200 so what you think the major diffrence is....or is there really a quality diffrence..or is it just myth? -------------------- ![]() KB |

get the 4-way pioneer, cause with the 2-way you will get more bass, which you dont need
and you really dont need an amp, unless you want one lol but your headunit should be more than enough power for the speakers -------------------- ![]() |

well ive heard that the amp will make them sound wayy better....obviously. do the pioneer ones sound good thou? ..... and what is the diffrence between "2-way" "3-way" "4-way" ?? This post has been edited by KB-2: Jan 17, 2007 - 7:19 PM -------------------- ![]() KB |

never heard pioneers before... if you get another hifonics amp for which ever speakers you get, be sure not to turn the gain up too high... it seems like a lot of power for some door speakers... my door speakers dont have an amp and they are plenty loud and keep up with my alpines...

QUOTE and what is the diffrence between "2-way" "3-way" "4-way" ?? 2-way- have a small sub and midrange 3-way- small sub, midrange, and tweeter 4-way-havent checked into them much, but it will probley have 2 tweeters instead of one. i have 3-way's in mine and there are perfect for me, and i listen to all kind of music, but i have two kicker L7 12's in mine so the bass is all the way down on the speakers. It get pretty loud w/o an amp, so with an amp it will be amazing! -------------------- ![]() |

these wil fit and they will handle all the power you have. my suggestion is to go to a reputable auto sound dealer and listen to different setups. a lot depends on your head unit. by the way, the infinitys will sound way far better than the alpines. |

Go for component sets(separate tweeter and mids) if you can afford it. coaxial speaker are really not worth the time imo unless you just want to replace a broken speaker etc. Not much of a change compared to stock and more often than not, sounds pretty crap. Have a listen though at an audio shop.... I would not bother putting an amp if you run coaxials. run it off the headunit.

I just went with Rockford Fosgate Fanatics 6.5"coaxial door and rear speakers running off of my 4x50 watt Clarion Receiver, and they sound great. No distortion when turning up the volume to my liking
![]() http://www.crutchfield.com/S-cfNRjZpnHp4/c...mp;I=130TSG1641 I didn't like the sound quality I had when compared to Rockford Setup. So my recommended speaker brand to you would be Rockford Fosgate, Boston Acoustics, MBQuarts, and Infinity. This is the Rockford Speakers I got. This and the one size smaller for the doors: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-cfNRjZpnHp4/c...&I=575P163C This post has been edited by netrata: Jan 27, 2007 - 6:55 PM -------------------- ![]() |

speakers are designed to work in certain enclosures. Most subwoofers are designed to work in enclosures. They need the resisting force of the air within the enclosure so that the cone moves properly and also to prevent the sub from bottoming out. Your door is a leaky enclosure at best. Find a speaker that work well in IB(infinite baffle) situations. Look for a speaker with a QTS of higher than 0.5 generally.
size of a speaker really does not make a speaker suck. There are even 12" midrange(pro audio etc). It is all about finding the right speaker. I have 7s in my doors and they play well to 45-50hz. For those really interested in audio as a hobby. Visit diymobileaudio forums and learn more. For the rest, just ignore my post ![]() |

Just my own 2 cents..... but.... What kind of head unit are u running these speakers off of?
Even the best speakers will not sound too great on a cheap head unit, but... a real good head unit will make even stock speakers sound great.. In my other car I had a cheap sony X-plod head unit and got a good deal on ebay for one of these.... and it sounded like a completely new system.... Just something to think about.... -------------------- -M-

I have never owned one, but you should be good to go with that. Wire it up and see how it makes your current speakers sound. I personally like MB Quart speakers.... Real good sound, but you have to make sure that you have enough power going into them, or they will be ruined. 50w should do it, but an amp would be best.... -------------------- -M-

im no audiophile, but after listening to a few, i decided to get alpine. sounded the best to me, and they looked to have the best quality for the money.

pioneer deh-p5800 head unit w/6.5" component Alpine type R's in the front and pioneer 2-way 6.5" in the rear. But I want something with some better bass in the rear. Any suggestions? I really liked the setup my parents have in their '98 toyota camry stock. i think there are 6x9's in the rear.. maybe made by jbl and 6.5" in the front doors and i'm pretty sure there is a factory amp pushing like 300? I could be wrong. Somebody please let me know if they have any suggestions. I plan on keeping the front speakers (the components) but probably switching out the back. IDEAS??? thanks

IDEAS??? thanks If you want better Bass, your best bet, is to use the actual low/sub pre amp output and buy a small amp. They power a nice clean sub. You dont have to get anything huge that will make your glass rattle... just something nice, small and clean in the trunk. If you try to push bass off of your mids or highs, it wont sound great. It might sound ok, but not great. Some 6x9's sound ok... but nothing compares to having bass run on its own amp. 1 8" in the trunk will give you the sound you are looking for. Its not crazy or huge, but will give you a nice clean low. -------------------- -M-
