headgasket. rod knock. those are the two major things to look for in the 7M. other than that, it's down to your usual things of what to look for in a car.

alot of times where the battery is located it will be rusted under it. Main things are what was listed above. If it has 160k u will have to overhaul the engine. Its tired at best and dying if its normal.

How much are you paying for it ?

I got a Supra 1984 P-type with 87 K miles on it, black, interior is close to perfect and the out side just need a new paint as it still has original paint, so there are some little dings and minor scratches.

smile.gif that's was my christmas gift.

my first car was an 87 supra N/A hardtop auto..lol. It had about 240xxxkm on it, ran like a tank untill the gaslines rotted out. Great cars. Only thing i would suggest checkin is the rear wheel wells and gas and brake lines. Other than that, keep an eye on the engine for knock and head gaskets. Im actually about to do a headgasket on my buddys 89 Cressida that has a 7mge in it. Just watch for any smoke of any colour comin from the tail pipe. If your interested i still have a 2.5" exhaust made for a MKIII supra sittin in my garage duin nothin, if your interested i can cut it into peices and ship it.

My old one:

thanks for the reply guys after reading some of the replies im not sure if I should go get one, dont really want to pour that much money into a old car. The guy is selling it dirt cheap and he claims its in good condition but im pretty sure there is something wrong with it. I wish I just did a 3s swap when tweak was still in vt when he was just starting off I wouldnt have to buy a new toy to play with.

all you really need to do for the most part (assuming the rods and bearings are fine) is just grab a metal head gasket with some ARP head studs, and torque those mofos down to ~90lb/ft. Re-torque'em after about 1000 miles and you should be fine and dandy for a while.
