either your very unlucky or some one at your school doesn't like you.
kids at my old HS took all but one lug nut off from a mustang and the kids wheel fell off on the highway almost killing him. your lucky in a sense that it didn't happen at high speeds. wow!

That is why my tire fell off... Sorry if i did not clear that up in the first post...
Thanks for all the support guys..

I got a quote from a shop and its gonna be 600 to repair everything.
Thats not considering the amount of damage the toe truck did on my front
bumper.. it has 4 large cracks now... kindasad.gif

By chance did you overtighten your lug nuts? I remember somebody was mentioning that if you overtighten your lug nuts and not to factory torque specs then the stud itself would stretch and weaken overtime till it breaks off. I don't know who mentioned that but that might be a good reason why the wheel came off since 2 of the studs are missing. Well, it's glad to know that your ok.

ps: just out of curiousity, does anyone know how difficult it would be to repair a broken stud and how much it would cost?

Well.. for my own sake i am getting it done at the shop that is
repairing my car.

i think you can remove the disc and take it to a automotive shop
(ie, PEP BOYS, AUTO ZONE) and they can repair the missing studs.

Well i really think its the crazy weather we received in TX lately.
It will be somewhere from 50-70 and the next day plummitt to
below freezing and snow.. I think that they were just old and
brittle. I mean my car is 10+ years old.. stuff just gets old lol.

holy crap man, your lucky to be alive. That almost happened to me once on the freeway but I heard some thup-thuping and slowed down and my wheel fell off right before I stopped. Only in that case it wasn't studs, it was cause my dad and I had been working on the car and then we both thought the other had tightened down the lugs when neither of us had. biggrin.gif

yeah, I understand that the reason your wheel fell off was the lack of studs. But you're missing two of them. It would be rare to lose two of them at the same time. You can't really suspect anyone losening your nuts, because you're missing the studs(it would be pretty tough for someone to remove your wheel studs in the parking lot. I would most likely consider this a result of not inspecting your car often enough.

Sorry for your loss though
