I have a Pioneer Head Unit and when u turn it off and hold the Function button you can get alot more options. One of the options changed the FRONT+REAR, to FRONT+SUB which allows you to control the subwoofers from the head unit.

anyway, when i used to listen to my stereo i had the LOUD feature set to mids. This gave me the moast bass, however the vocals sucked because the speakers were putting out low bass sounds instead of clear good sounds.

once i changed the setting to Front+Sub (i have 2 pioneer 6.5" installed in front) it sounded much better beacuse i had all the bass in the subs and the speakers put out the sounds there were supposed too

Any way enough bull sh*t heres the question: is there anyway to have my back 2 speakers on? i would like it if i could have them on just like the front and still have the bass go to the back (such as a FRT+REAR+SUB setting)

thx for reading all this sh*t

Pioneer Head unit (unsure of numbers cuz im not home, but similar to the DEHP5500MP except i got it in nov. so it doesnt look the same)

2 Pioneer 6.5" TSG1647 speakers in the front

2 stock speakers in the rear

760 watt Pioneer Amp

2 10" Rockford Punch Z Subs

the question is, headunit only offers FRT+REAR, and FRT+SUB settings- FRT+REAR has all 4 speakers on at once but only way to get alot of bass is to turn on the Loud Feature wich puts out mids. The thing is the speakers sound like crap becuase there playing low bass sounds, even the the subs are hitting hard.

the FRT+SUB setting has just the front two speakers playing and the subs. with this set u dont need the loud option and now im getting the hard hitting bass with the clearness of the speakers however its just the front two

question: is there anyway i can get the FRT+SUB setting to play all 4 speakers, maybe a crossover somewhere or something
(i would like to have all 4 speakers playing clearly like the front two and still having the bass hit without having to make the speakers play low mid sounds)

thx in advance smile.gif

try this

your rca's or patch cable to the amp for the subs

hook that up to the front preamp out put at the back of your deck

the 5500MP's have front and rear preamp output

if its using the front switch it to the rear

then do front+rear setting

that should work

I still wonder why people buy these Pioneer/Sony decks with SO many ABSURD options that the user doesnt need. I am happy with my Eclipse with very few options in the menu. Oh and also with the Non-Fading sub output smile.gif

Are you running the front speaker off of the headunit or the amplifer. The front+rear and front+sub option effects the rca outputs and the internall crossover in the radio. In front+rear the rca's are full range and in front+sub the front channel is crossed over above the set freq. either 50/80/125Hz and the sub below it.

If the rear speakers aren't hooked up you can wire them directly to the headunit and use it's internal amp. The 5500 is 50x4 supposedly.

For the best sound use the amp you have for the subs. Connect it to the rear/sub output.
Get yourself a 4 channel amp and run it from the front rca channel. You won't have fade controll but all 4 speakers will work.

if you have it set at front+rear then the subs and all the speakers will work

nothing bad will happen...just make sure that the crossover on the amp is set to low pass.
