GT does 0-60 in 8.5 stock, and a quarter at 16.4 according to this site. And it does 0-60 in 8.4, and the quarter in 16.4 according to this site.
ST does 0-60 in 9.5 seconds stock according to this site. And 0-60 in 8.9 according to this site.
Doesn't seem to be a lot out there on info for the ST. A lot more for the GT Celicas. Might check times on Corolla 1.8s to see if you can find some reliable sites.

Which 3sgte in which car? Swapped? ST205?

SW20s are rated something like 5.9. But thats RWD so you'd have to add a few to make up for the FWD.

He shifts well. He's a good driver. I don't know why his time would be so slow. He car feels just about as fast as mine. I think it may be more driver error on the stop watch than the actual driving.

no but he had his cell phone in his right hand. and i don't think he drives a rhd car and used his left to shift and steer at the same time.

Well. I was shifting and using stop wach on my cell at the same time. I think steering is more important than shifting. So, that why I had my cell in right hand (haha). GT Celica feels much faster then my ST.
My friend Nate(BIGMEANBULLDOG55)who is a member of this forum will compare his GT with my ST in 0 to 60mph time, 1/4 mile and on autocross. Will see what the difference going to be. We have about the same mods, so I let you guys know.

Well. Today I tested my 0-60 again with my autoX P205/50/15 Falkens and time with cell phone in right hand was 9.2 sec. Big difference from last time. I had 225/45/17's everyday tires that time and time was somwher high 10's and 11 sec. I'm pretty sure I can go 9.0sec or under.
I thing that is pretty good for ST Celica with headers, cold air intake with K&N filter and magnaflow mufler. What do you guys think?

I had a G-tech measure my 0-60 time for my manual GT with all the mods I have in my profile and it read like a 9.2 for 0-60 and 1/4 mile time was 17.7.

it also read that my car had 84 horsepower and my friend's truck (which my car can beat in a 1/4 mile) had like 350 horsepower. so, I don't think the thing is too accurate. lol

I got a 7.78 today. That was the best run. Stop watch was in the shifter hand. It was a slight down hill. Not what I would call a hill, but it just wasn't level. My time would improve with better clutch and better gripping tires. I spin in 1st and 2nd, and bark into 3rd.

I measured 5.x s last year with a stopwatch from the time my foot hit the pedal until the needle hit 60's tick mark right at the center. I did it multiple times and averaged it. A manual with my setup should be way less. I'm on an auto so the turbo has nice lag because I don't brake boost.

My old car was like that. You didn't want to let go of that wheel for nothing. It was actually kind of scary sometimes. Especially on patches of gravel and stuff like that. It would spin, and with out LSD, one wheel would catch and just throw you. I used my left at about the 2 o'clock position, and then locked my arm across the wheel with my elbow at about the 8 o'clock. Oh, this car didn't have powersteering either. I'm glad the Celica has it.

is that with a 3sgte? what other mods do you have?

also, yes, lagos put a devilsown water/methanol injection kit on his 3sgte, and presure2 put the same water/methanol injection kit on his 5sfte. They both seemed to like it, and I think lagos said his added like 18 WHP, so it can't be too bad.

just ran some times tonight with a friend in the car

me - 180lbs
cousin - 170lbs
subs in the trunk
tires
clutch & flywheel
head

on flat land ran a 7.26 fastest with him timing, spun in 1st a bit and into 2nd

up hill was somewhere around 9.8~ times varied too much

and slight down hill (on ramp) was about 4 haha

i noticed the most gain from changin the head - still on stock intake n exhaust and after puttin that i noticed alot more power/torque ill have to time some 60-100 runs

Just under 5 secs 0-60

60-80 takes a little longer due to the 4WD taking alot of the power,

80-100+ in no time at all, the turbo is at its optimum at this speed and it just flies

maybe if you dumped the clutch at like 2500 instead of 4000 you might not spin the tires so much and might get a better time...

If I launch at 2500 it will just bog. It didn't really spin for too long it had a lot of wheel hop. It actually still bogged down when I launched it.

I call BS on Jason and his 7.26 time on a non-boosted ST. No way a non-boosted ST can get to 60 faster than my Celica. I'll see what I can do about getting a video of a 0-60 time in a GT.

Update here. I'm rebuilding my motor right now, and Miro has his motor freshly rebuild too. So as soon as I get mine put together and get a few miles on it, we'll test them out. Should give us a pretty good look at how these cars perform. We couldn't test them earlier because I had a valve sticking, so I only had decent compression on 3 cylinders. This is kind of exciting. My car won't be together until next Monday, and I'm not sure how long after that that I will feel comfertable with reving it too much.

I think you are supposed to break a new motor in for like 1500 miles. I think it's the same thing with a rebuilt.

hehe I can't wait for that biggrin.gif but wouldn't your 40-100 time be less if you shifted a little higher. you were shifting at like 5K rpms.

sure..in both vids.
i wasnt trying to run it up to red line, the car really dont make any more power after 5500 anyway.

car still doesn't make any power after 5500 even with the turbo? I would think that it be way faster to shift at redline with the turbo because you stay in boost longer.

just look at any 5sfe dyno sheet.
max power is produced right about 5500 or so rpm.
IPB Image
there it is, in black and white.
thats a stock 98 5sfe, with just over 52K on it,
and the same engine + turbo

funny. the dyno kinda shows the power very slowly go down after 5500 but when you're actually driving it feels like it hits you like a ton of bricks!

Because it doesn't have the torque production to support it.

The same reason my 406 small block chevy falls on its face below 2500RPM, no torque. Get it into the 4K range and let it go and there is no stop untill you let off or the tires blow. Much above 6K and you are again screwed.

But redlining these cars is more for the "go fast" sound than anything. The Torque produced above 3K pulls better than the fall off of over 5500.
