So, after talkin it through with alot of my friends, parents, family, etc. I decided that Im gonna keep my celica. Im gonna still be taking it off the road for a few months. So i decided that while its off the road, and im working im gonna put some $ into the car to get it back up to par of where i want it. So i decided to do a list of things i need to get done with the car. My goal is to have it all done by august 1st. So...pretty much, i need to get all of this done in the next 5 months or so.

Tint windows, re-upholster/re-cover rear seats, fix seat back *amp pulled the backing of my rear seats off cuz of its weight*, move amp *obvious reasons*, get oem strut bar covers for rear, weld up e-brake bracket *part of it got ripped off and i gotta tig weld it back into place*, clean up/paint calipers, buy new/used rear controll arms, recondition controll arms, install control arms, get new window gaskets and install them, get new drivers side vent, re-paint interior plastics, get jdm tails, get jdm projectors, fix wobbel in shifter *gotta tighten down the bolts*, new sway bar end links for front, get new wheel bearings on all 4 corners, wrap up exhaust and intake piping in heat wrap, re-vamp intake, fix door rust and hatch rust, undercoat car, clean up rear strut bar, get new TRD plate frames, fix paint chips and blemishes, de-badge rear, new front strut bar *probably cusco*, install gauges, buy DCW single pod, paint and install 5th gen mirrors, get new sunroof, re-do headliner

So, the list starts tomorrow....first step stage 3 of my celica. wish me luck

I ordered em from Toyota, waited 2 days, went to pick em up and they said it would b on back order untill the 22nd or so. But i did manage to get some things i needed to buy.

so the weather here has been screwin around with me. When i left windsor on Friday, the weathernetwork said it was gonna be +6C on saturday, +8C on sunday and +13C Today. Sure enough, Saturday was more like +1C, yesterday was +3 and today is +6 and raining and best of all...im sick. Woke up this mornin all congested and stuffed up and achy. So, my progress on my car has been minimal. I really didnt get to do any thing thus far. I put the new plate frames on, but thats about it. BUT on saturday I went to this car show called Performance World. Lots of nice cars, and because it was put on by a custom car shop, there was TONS and TONS! of audio and performance stuff on sale for cheap. So i got me some new 6x9 and 6" Kenwood speakers for $70 for both pair. And unfortunatly, i gotta work the rest of the week, but i hope i got some free time after work durin the week or that this coming weekend is gonna b nice out. So ill keep you guys updated on the progress.

i would really REALLY stay away from using those cheap brass fittings to get oil to your sender.
they WILL fatiuge and crack over time.
get a steel fitting from tunertoys.com, or even better would be to locate it on the firewall or somthing and run a SS line to it.

The problem is not the pressure they can hold. It's their strength against vibration and other stresses from the engine. That's alot to be hangin out their on brass. SS would hold up fine.

so i had some extra time in the shop tonight, so i started workin on my car a bit more. I got my OEM strut bar covers yesterday, and decided to install my guages today. I dont have them installed completely, but im gonna have the rest wired up by friday. Only thing that sucks is i have to get a new t-fitting for my oil pressure sending unit because the one i bought doesnt fit for some reason. any ways, enjoy..sorry for the crappy pics
IPB Image
IPB Image

Im gonna keep the bottom 2 guages sittin sideways a bit because i can see the full sweep, but im gonna turn the A/F guage to the top when i pull it apart in a few days to finish it up.

Meh its alright...i was thinkin of doing a 5sfte..but 2 much work..so im gonna just end up doing a 3rd gen 3s swap.

Also afro man, i did that wiring like 2 years ago when i first got the car, im plannin on runnin it thru the grommet under the fender.

But yea, the gauges are harder to read because my sparcos sit about 2 inches taller than OEM seats, so half the gauge face is being blocked. Im gonna turn the A/F guage to the side so its flat...but other than that im gonna keep the other ones to the side a bit.

back on topic..did some work today...replaced 1 of my cv boots, new strut bearings on both sides and checked my swaybar end links. My front links are sooooooooooooooooo freaking shot..lol. Im gonna b ordering a new set from twos are us. I also started to measure up the size of the sway bar mounts on the body for when i start upgrading. I was thinkin of goin with ST sway bars, but i think im just gonna get some of the twosrus end links and get some universal energy poly urethane greaseable mounts. Now next things i gotta do is get me some new rear controll arms, measure up the bushings, get energy suspension bushings, measure up some bushings for my strut rod *mines been squeaky for like 4 months*, gettin my hatch fixed, then i dunno what im gonna b doing from there. I guess it will all depend on how much i get from my tax $.

so heres todays update...over the last 48 hours ive spent $500+ on parts..lol. I bought 2 new wheel bearings ($290 for the pair), new battery ($97), new rotors and pads for the rear (another $110) and i ordered my TwosRus sway bar end links (another $165 USD). Pretty much every thing had to be ordered except the battery, so im gonna have a pretty full trunk as of tomorrow. But since i installed the strut bearing...HUDGE HUDGE HUDGE!!!!! difference in the way the car drives. my passanger side one was completely seized up..and i mean completely seized. So every bump i went over the spring couldnt compress the way it should b able 2, i would turn the wheel and the spring would spin. So driveability right now is soooo much better..now just to tackel the rear end suspension and then brakes next and the car should b almost up to where i want it....comfortable..lol. I also bought me some gold plated battery terminals, but i dont think im gonna use them just due to all of the connections i have running to my battery (subs, fogs, gauges, alarm). But yea, things are comin along well. Im headin back to Toronto on the weekend to slap my nice wheels back on, ill snap a few pics when i get em on.

recent update: Last friday i did my rear brakes, and wheel bearings. Took 3 hours cuz of the stupid wheel bearings. If you see my post about how to installl them, you'll see why. Any ways, so thouse got installed, car drives 1000 times better. So i drove home, get home go to put my good rims on, find my CV boot blew apart. So i tryed to fix it with some zipties...didnt work and ended up blowing my boot completely off. So that kinda sucked, but what sucked more was Nader and i went out to the local Toyota Nation meet, and some duche bag with a crappy paseo hit my door with his and left a nice scratch. But plus side to it, the guy gave me $100 in fresh $20s to fix it..lol. So any ways, havent done much to the car this week because i havent had any time..plus the weathers been weird..it was +20C yesterday and today its -3C and snowing. Yeaaa...gotta love canada. So tonight i spent a bit of time finsihin up the wiring on my gauges. Unfortunatly the t-fitting i made/got for my oil pressure sending unit doesnt work. So i have to wait on gettin a new one. So i installed the volt, and A/F and ran the wires for the Oil pressure but its not hooked up. I also got rid of alot of my old hackjobbed wiring from when i first got my car. So any ways, heres a pic and some videos of the gauges. Im thinkin my O2 might be messed up now because I was gettin a check engine light coming on yesterday and today when i get the gauge hooked up..it keeps bouncing for no reason. So im thinkin my 02 might be on its way out. Good thing i tapped into the main harness not the 02 wire. So any ways, enjoy. Next week, sway bar end links, polyurethane mount bushings, poly urethane strut rod bushings and new tattoo..lol
IPB Image
IPB Image
IPB Image

Just remembered too, i wrapped my short ram in DEI header wrap to keep the temp down *headers are stupid hot even wrapped*. Its nice cuz the engines got a bit more throttel response and it also brought the sound of the short ram down more, so now its mostly the exhaust you here. You'll hear how quiet the car is in the videos.

Bryan

EDIT: First video, the car was shut off for about 4 hours..so the O2 was really cold..hense the no reading.

So i spent tonight puttin my TwosRus end links in and just fixin the car up a bit.
So heres a comparison of the rear links
IPB Image
I couldnt get the front links compairison because i hadda torche the endlinks off cuz they are soooo rotten.

Installed: Front
IPB Image
IPB Image
Installed: Rear
IPB Image
IPB Image
and i decided to paint my exhaust piping and muffler black just because it was sooo freaking dirty and was gettin a bit rusty looking and would pop out in compairison to the rest of my undersideof my car
IPB Image
IPB Image

So this weekend, im gonna be doing more work on the car *weather pending*, gonna fix all the paint scratches and de-badge the rear again, and maybe if i can paint the calipers and start working on cleanin up my engine bay and fix my interior.

front ones have never been replaced, the rear ones i did about a year ago, but the lower joint on the drives side rear was completely shot..there was no resistance what so ever. Plus i was gonna go with some bigger swaybars, but this was cheaper and stiffened up the ride alot. Im still gonna be adding polyurethane body mount bushings soon.

so nothing majour to update on. Im just trying to get my parts all together b4 i start doing the bigger work. Last night i decided to fix the back of my seat and re-located my amp aswell as relocate my sub. My sub was sittin with the sub pointing up at the hatch cover for the longest time and it sounded good, but took up ALOT of my trunk space. So i decided to move it.
So its now sitting very snugly under my rear strut bar. I mounted the amp to the side of the box and made the wires a little more hidden/taped them up with electrical tape.
IPB Image
IPB Image

But within the next few weeks, alot of the majour parts are gonna be coming together...exterior work peices, interior, and some engine parts. So there probably wont be any updates/big progress reports done for the next 2 or 3 weeks. I got some mods that are coming up that only...2 people know about. So when you see the next post, there should b some good new items.

So i got some better pics of my newer mods/changes. Better pics of the new relocated sub and amp and strut bar covers
IPB Image
I decided to re-upholster my hatch tray again. Went to the local auto supply store and bought me some black vynal. I did it on the front steps of my townhouse on top of a little tabel with spray adhesive and a pair of safety siccors..lol Turned out decently.
IPB Image

Also after almost 2 years of procrastanating, i went and painted my calipers/fixed the paint on the front ones.
IPB Image
IPB Image

IPB Image
Pretty close colour match.

Also if you didnt read my other thread in the exteior styling section, i got a set of OEM EU splitters from Manphibian. They look pretty good.
IPB Image

Also, i managed to get somethin ive wanted for awhile. So im gonna b either mounting this on the back of my car *depending on what i do with my hatch*, or im gonna put it on my dash. Im thinking the dash more so though.
IPB Image

Also, i managed to score me a set of JDM tails for free today....kinda.

I have my old exhaust system from my 87 supra and my friend has an 89 Cressida who wants to put an exhaust system on, so i told him i had it. He told me he would buy it, so i told him if he could get me a set of JDM tails and like $50. So i should get my JDM tails in a few days time.

Thats all for now. Im slowly adding more things as time goes. I got about another $500 that im gonna b using for the celica and some new upgrades and mods. Some of which I have to figure out my choise for what im gonna do about the hatch. my hatch is rusted quite a bit, so i might b going to a FC hatch, so i might b going with somethin different/new that hasnt been made yet. Or i might b going with GT-4 blocks if i stay with my OEM hatch.

so i got bored this morning waiting for my buddy to wake up, so i decided to find something to do on the car. I decided from insperation of vincent doggies post about the arm rest cover. Any ways, i broke out my headliner material i bought and decided to re-upholster it.

The pics make it look really bright, but it almost matches my sparcos perfectly. Not bad for my 3rd attempt doing upholstery *hatch cover twice*

I love these kind of threads, always makes me want to go start a new project. Car is looking good and I'll have to keep checking back often to see all the progress.

I would say do black for the headliner, you may not always have red seats and a black headliner just looks awesome

dang, you stole my idea, i'm about to redo my armrest after seeing seeing vincent doggie's thread too..lol where'd you get the material from?

looks really nice! i'd say go with the black headliner because you don't want to overdo it with the red on the interior. keep up the good work!

Local autoparts store has an upholstery section..bought about 2 feet of it to do my door cards too eventually. For that, plus the vynal to reupholster my hatch tray + a can of $13 spray adhesive was like $36 or somethin. Its U/V resistant to which is good.

Somethin ive been wanting since i got my car. This was the first mod i ever wanted to do to my car, but for some reason it always got pushed aside. Ive dumped tons of $ into my car with mods, repairs, etc, but yet never had the $250 to get a set of these, well, the wait is over...

i got a set for essentialy free..i traded my buddy my old exhaust system off my MKIII supra thats been sittin in my garage for 2 and a half years..lol. So i finaly got them today when i got to school. I even ran out to my car on our 10 min smoke break to throw em on the car.

Any ways, its funny cuz it was mailed and it cost the guy $374 Hong Kong dollars for shipping. Ive never seen a $50 stamp b4 though...weird..any ways..back on topic..lol

I decided to go out and get some new speakers...best buy had these on sale for $50 a pair. They are 120W, 80W RMS. Now bad for the price.

Also when i was back in Toronto, i went out to JRP *performance shop*, and got me a nice HKS hoodie for $40, they had a sale on all their clothing.

yea its still a 5s, i think its a combo of my exhaust, headers and intake. She does growl pretty good. Im gonna take some good videos of my car probably in the next few days. I only have a few vids from inside my car, but i dont have a single vid from outside my car. But yea, my car pulls pretty good compaired to some of my other friends 5s powered celicas. Im just waitin till i actually tune my car on the dyno in a few days at my school and using my neo.

Very nice man, I have th eexhaust, the intake, but missing the header. Although most likely not a lot, it should still make a difference with those three installed? Any guestimate? Do you think getting a header is worth it?

so i did some minor work on the car the last few weeks, since ive been a bit short on $ and busy as hell, its nothing majour. I installed my energy suspension polyurethane sway bar mount bushings * made a big difference*, replaced my drivers side cv shaft that was almost in 3 peices by the time it was taken off, installed some new 6.5" in the rear, painted my cooling plate, and got me a wicked deal on a TRD oil cap. Theres a guy who lives about 20 min away from me in Toronto, who used to own a shop with his buddy, they closed down and had all this excess stock laying around, so they were sellin it for cheap. Got my TRD cap in the box, never opened b4 for $20 biggrin.gif any ways, ill let the pics do the talking.

Its gonna take about 2 months to get them though because they are coming in from japan, then going to huston then coming up here. But i ordered a set of TRD strut bar bushings *one of mine is shot and squeakes constantly*, TRD thermostat, and a set of TRD wires. Only other thing thats gonna b coming soon is a set of rear leather seats, my new seat covers when i get the material and time, aswell as im trying to get a euro rear lip and a set of euro side skirts....and if i can get the $, im gonna get a set of GT4 blocks too.

HOLY CRAP!..back from the dead eh?? Well..i actually got some new work done/in the process of doing it. I finaly got some time off working on sarahs car, and decided to go out and start to put my speakers in. So i got some new Pioneer tweeters, and JBL 6.5s for the doors. So the brackets i had from the speakers that i thought would fit, dont...so i had to make up some mounts, but my batteries died on my saw and drill...so i only had half of the brackets made. But i did get one of the 2 tweaters mounted up. I didnt get to soilder them yet though cuz the only thing i have is just one of thouse crappy "Coldheat" guns..that doesnt work for crap. So i gotta go out and buy a new soildering gun tonight and finish this all up tomorrow. But enjoy the pics.

IPB Image
Tweaters

my original speakers had rust on them too...so im guessin it was a good thing i decided to put some new ones in.

got the speakers in...took me like 2 hours to do the drivers side...took me 20 min to do the passangers..lol. I finished up the brackets today, sanded them down, painted them up, then mounted every thing in the car and it sounds sooo good. Nice crisp clear sound and doesnt distort at higher levels. Im probably gonna need to go out and buy a 4 channel amp sometime soon to power the speakers.
Some pics
the mount waiting to dry...
IPB Image
New tweeters mounted up
IPB Image

And as for sarahs car...i went to put her new decklid on...but one of the struts wouldnt come off the trunk or mount...so tomorrow i gotta go to the local scrap yard to get the mount and struts off this
IPB Image

dont ask for any thing off it though...its pretty much been picked clean. Mostly by me and sarah, but it was missing things like the door, wheels, suspension, etc.

So next bit of plans are..97 front end, GT4 spoiler blocks, OEM sides, JDM headlights, new seat covers *custom made ones*, and bringing the interior back to stock looking. No more painted interior bits. So as soon as i start my job at toyota next week, im gonna b ordering all the parts to get this thing starting to look the way ive wanted it to look since i got it 2 years ago. So i think Stage 3 is done for now...but stage 3.5 is gonna start around Dec or so..depending on if i get a winter beater or not.

They make a product called trim black it is a semi gloss black and generaly matches well the semi gloss look of the plastic. so if you really could mold that in and have it look factory if you wanted to.
and as far as what is in the box i have no idea......its gotta be something cool espically if it is on par with everything else you have done.

i dont want to fiberglass and this way is soo much eaiser. All i do is squeeze some on, mould it, let it sit, cut the excess around it, and then just rub my finger across the excess and it just peels off.

thats exactly why i did it, plus when u push onto the bottons, the NEO its self moves a bit, and if i fiberglassed it, the glass would crack. And like i said cleanin up the excess is just giving a little slice, and peeling the excess off.

and the spoiler only cost me $40 cuz i had a buddy who owd me a fav. But it was regularly $90

so i brought most of my inteior back to stock now. Im just waiting on a few more peices. I still need a new radio surround, drivers side window switch, drivers side window switch surround, and the drivers side rear speaker grill. I managed to get every thing i needed to bring it back from a scrap yard for $25 biggrin.gif but the car they had, we already took the radio surround off for my girlfriends car *hers was broken in 2 peices*, it was missing the drivers side door, and it was a convertable, so the rear speaker grills wont work on a hatchback since they are built into the 1/4 pannel cover. So its almost done. Im gonna go with an OEM shiftboot soon, probably either a JDM SS-III one, or a 98 MR2 one with the red stiching.

my next little project was suppost to be re-doing/dying my headliner black and adding a drain tube to my aftermarket sunroof. So i headed out to the local parts store, got me some vynal/fabric dye, and i got home and started to rip into my headliner. So i took every thing out, every thing off, and then tryed to pry my headliner down....couldnt figure out why it was stuck, So i started to peel the material back where i knew i could get a handel on it....then kept pulling..and pulling..and pulling...and i pretty much ended up with a peice of material with some foam on the back. I looked up and i see this.
IPB Image

yeaa....so i figure that when they went to put in my sunroof, they didnt know what to do with my original headliner and didnt know how to modify the headliner to make it fit...so they hacked up the original, duct taped the original to the sunroof and any other parts they could attach it to, and then sprayed some adhesive down, put the new foam up, and put every thing back in. Extreamly hacked. So now, its up to me to fix their screw ups. So my first task is im making some templates out of some spare card board to fill in all thouse gaps and hopefully be able to line them up with the original headliner so that i can make it 1 big seamless peice when i put the new material/foam up there. I got some work done on it tonight while i was screwin around with it.

so tomorrow im gonnna head over to the UPS store and get some thicker cardboard or im gonna head to the local home depot and buy some thin pressboard to make the new healiner. And then im also gonna go out and buy the new headliner material/foam. And then i also have to figure out how im gonna put a drain tube into the sunroof. Im thinkin im gonna drill a hole into the tray, weld in a peice of tubing and then put a peice of vynal tube and run it down and out under my fender.

Just when i think im gonna b finished eh??

got the new headliner in today. It was actually pretty easy and looks amazingly good except for 1 small spot i messed up. I also died my sun visors black again. The best part is...it only cost me $30 for the material and for some good spray adhesive. And as for installing it, it was just puttin the peice in, tucking it up over the front, down the sides and rear, spraying some spray adheasive, smoothing out the sections as i go, pulling the material tight, then cutting away the excess. any ways, heres the pics.

you can see the one small screw up spot on the left.

and sun visor...it needs a few more coats of the dye though.

the headliner is fully black, just the flash makes it gray looking.

stock is nice and subtel....im pretty much building my car up on subtelty...just really simple, clean and nice looking. To me painted red interior pieces and things that were done when i was 17, look like a 17 year old built it..lol

Yea, they are all the wires for my aftermarket sunroof and the plug for the switch. but since my sunroof doesnt work properly/leaks, im not gonna b using it forawhile. In the summer or spring im thinkin im gonna go out and pull up the RTV we sealed it with, make a new gasket for it and im gonna cut and weld in a drain tube so that if i do get alot of water in, it will drain out..like how an OEM sunroof works.

I had a Pathfinder once that had an after market sunroof that leaked like CRAZY in heavy rain, which is pretty frequent during the winter here in Oregon. Luckily the glass actually had the name of the manufacturer; after months of trying to find the leak holes and sealing them w/RTV & using towels on the front seats I finally tracked down the manufacturer in Ohio, ordered a new gasket for ten bucks and voila! Problem solved! It worked like a charm and was WELL worth the minimal effort it took to replace the gasket.

Maybe you can do that too? Good luck though, I know it sucks!

the neo is an air/fuel controller...im using it for some mild tuning on my 5s just to make it lean out a bit so i get a better power band.

It was installed on a hardtop model. It has a seperate switch and it pops up and back instead of sliding inside the roof. Also its ALOT bigger than an OEM sunroof.

Tryed. I called about 15 different companies over the last 2 years trying to find a gasket, but heres the sh*tty part...the model i have was the biggest sunroof that ASC ever made and they discontinued it in 1996, and they dont have/make any more parts for it. So i have to essentialy make my own gasket/fix the one thats in there. It sucks cuz i called dealers all around north america, manufacturers of sunroofs all across north america and some in the UK even trying to find somethin that would fix it. Nothing. So when i go to fix it, im gonna talk to some of the companies around town here and see if i can get one of them to make me a few gaskets, since my town is a big automotive town. Hopefully i can get somethin to fix it.

yea..but thats not how this sunroof model was designed. It sucks too cuz if i have it open and spray the rear window, theres a vortex created and the water sprays back into the car. But i havent had it open for almost 2 years now...so im not really concerned about it.
