The mr-s is slow as **** mang. I was bumping my music and came across a stop light, the guy in the mr-s gave me a conceited look, so I looked back. Once the stop light turn green we both when at it. To my surprise my celi ST kept with it. Those things are just like our celi; they only "look" fast. I heard those things break down a lot too.

the mr-s will eat our cars up in the curves, garunteed. i drove that little beast and its definately faster than our cars and has tighter stock handling. And about the gti, this car would out handle our car anyday even if we put true coilovers on our cars, plus they are really light. the color on the avenger is stock as well. And to tell you guys the truth i bought the cheapest coilovers i could find. I just wanted to prove to you guys that there is little difference in linear "fake" coilover setups and to not waste $400 dollars on something that is completely the same.

i believe the mr-s uses the 1zz-fe, which would still rival our car's horse power.

yea the 1zzfe should be 140hp stock. actually 5 hp higher than a 6gc GT. so either that guy in the MR-S was a sucky driver or it was an automatic. or maybe its the power/weight ratio, but i thought the spiders were fairly light. either way both cars look fast, and can be made fast.
And VAcelica, what coilovers do u have? and how is the ride? if its good, what did u do differently? |

i believe the 1zzfe has 140 hp stock. thats 5 hp more than a 6gc GT. so i dunno what happened with that.
What kinda coilovers did u get? r u runnin on stock shocks and struts? whats the ride like? bumpy? OOPS! sorry for the double post, i thought the post didnt go up. This post has been edited by Pvc99gT: Jul 15, 2003 - 4:17 PM |

i bought those cheap #1 coilovers from Nopionline and i got a discount from the shop so they were alittle cheaper than the listed price online. I am running on stock struts and they will proly be blown in a couple of weeks. The ride quality is excellent given the condition on the struts. Its alittle bumpy cause of the bad struts, but i have yet to bottom out.

yea i really love the mkii's and i've always wanted one. But the mkiii's look pretty damn sexy with those trd body kits. Mmmm mid-range and rear wheel drive, must be nice. just dont drive in the snow due to the lack of weight on all four tires...could be fun in a parking lot though

Yeah you also need to look at the fact that the 5sfe loses so much power within the head and exhaust and everything. At the wheels off the showroom floor you might see 105 wheel horsepower from the celi. While the 1zzfe doesn't lose that much powr, since it's got vvti...and prolly makes the mr2 put out near 120 at the wheels.

Macavely, that makes a lot of sense...but i don't know if it's true
to be 40hp more, it would basically by using the 2ZZ engine in the GT-S and it would be a BEAST then because with the 1ZZ pushing only 140, it can still keep with a GT-S and keep with it in the twisties(stock of course...after mods it would kill) but the drop looks nice. -------------------- ![]() |

yea i dont think i'll be lowering it anymore than that until i get some new struts. i'm happy with the ride quality and look, so i'll leave her alone for now.

No....the MR-S everywhere has teh 1ZZ-FE engine....Motor Trend (iono how they did it but they did) tested the MR2 Spyder/MR-S and hit a 6.9 second 0-60....It's because of the power to weight ratio.
Using this combination Lotus is bringing over the Lotus elise with guess what....a tweaked 2ZZ-GE engine and a Toyota drivetrain =) MR-S's are fast and fun in the twisties....in the right hands.... -Nate ![]() |

I think there is a huge difference from those #1 coilovers to the "$400" ones. For $400 you can choose your spring rate and get eibach springs which wont sag and handle amazingly, if you are all show by all means cheeper ones will do the job, but if you are about go, I prefer the quality $400 parts. |

i just dont see the point in spending that much money on fake coilovers. if you're going to spend 500 dollars on fake coilovers and gettin them installed, you might as well just save an extra 500 and go all out. and by the way my still does handle amazingly without the GCs.

inexpensive springs have a reputation of loosing stiffness with age, I dont know who makes the #1 springs but that was a big reason for buying groundcontrol.

well many factors play into that, mainly in the way you drive. If you dont abuse your car on a daily basis then you shouldnt have any problems. i really dont plan on autocorssing everyday so there shouldnt be any problems. And i dont plan on having these coilovers on long enough to wear them out all the way anyways. this is just a temporary solution until i purchase true coilovers. |
