So since im doing some work on my car, im gonna do some maintaince work i havent done for awhile. One of the things thats been in the back of my mind for awhile now, is does the 5sfe use a coil pack?? if it does, where is it? also could i replace it with say one from a company like MSD??

the coil is attached to the firewall with the ignitor.
no reason to upgrade the coil unless yours is broken, the mr2 guys use 100% stock ignition components up to ~400whp.

actually, its inside the distributor. I think only the 90-91 had external coil but the 94 is inside the distributor for sure. I dont know if its worth it to change it though.

94-95 GT coil is inside the distributor.
96-99 GT coil is bolted to the firewall.
All STs have the coil in the distributor.

actually, to correct myself, 94-95 GT CALI spec cars, the coil is on the firewall.
the 94-95 FEDERAL spec is located in the dizzy.
all 96+ is on the firewall
just for future refrence.
