nah didnt get the rebuilt. it has 54k on it, just about ready for the 60k check up so im installing a new water pump and alternator

i have nooo money to get other parts like headers or something like that, it would be a perfect time to install them, the engine is easily accesible

Two things.

1.) You got ripped on the engine. Reason: You can get low mileage 5sfe's for $200. Side note: You can get V6 engines for cheaper, and less miles than that even.

2.) The fact that you don't know the total is VERY bad. I assume this means you're paying hourly, thus, welcome to a huge bill in the end. I would try to work out a set price before you proceed if it is not too late.

oh i know for a fact that im not payin hourly, we are good friends with the owners of the shop, and will be getting a large discount on the labor price. and i didnt have enough time to look into other engines before the replacement was ordered

made a mistake, the engine that i posted is actually ny original, and they dont replace the alternator for the 60k check up its the timing belt, by bad, everything should be installed by friday cross your fingas!!

well the junk yard company made a big mistake, the engine that they were going to send was 54k but they "misinterpreted" it and it was actually 154k , they sent a 76k motor out a camry er sumthing. there are some differences between the motors, first, mine is sooooo much cleaner,(its the first pic), but no matter the engine itself inside it perfect. 2 O2 sensors on my manifold, 1 on this, and other stupid b/s. this has been a horrible month for me w/ luck and i hope i get it up and running by tuesday, so i can break it in for the track on sunday the 20th

yeah, I probably would've gotten a higher milage 5sfe for $300-500 and rebuilt it and had a 0 mile engine for less than the $1700. but good luck with it.

Two things:
1. You can exchange some of the parts to get your newer motor to work in your car. Between the two you should be set.
2. You don't need to break in a used motor

Good news at last!!!! there was an oil leak or something, and we ordered a rebuilt motor.

Be careful that this is not all leading up to a huge bill or something. I know you said you know the mechanic but alot of times that doesn't matter. Those guys are very often evil - the number on reason why I do all my own work.

alright well what i am getting is just a rebuilt block. we stripped doen my old motor to the block so we are going to swap everything over to the new motor. Its coming in from wayne, pa which is like 40min from the shop, so everything should be in by this friday. the motor has 36k on it, so im guessing is was rebuilt after it had been used for a little bit, i have this drag competition on that sunday, so i am wondering is the motor will be broken in by then. I would give the motor more time than that - seriously. It's not so much as it needs to break in seeing as it's a used motor. It's just that you are getting a motor that was most likely involved in an accident plus you just really have no way of knowing if the motor really only has 36K on it. I would wait probably at least a month and constantly be listening to it and feeling it and checking for signs of problems before racing it.

Block came in this morning!!!!This block is brand new, rebuilt and aching to get run, it'll be in by friday hopefully, i should have some pics up at that point
