has anyone tried to mold the celica to accept supra tails? i love the look of the supra, but quite frankly i just cant afford to buy or even maintain a supra. and secondly, what are the dementions of a supra?

could a supra bumper be heavily modified with fiberglass to fit a celica

Yup, a few people have. Try a search on this board and you'll find them. It is quite difficult to get it to look right on the Celica and needs quite a lot of custom fab. work so won't be cheap. The existing taillight recesses have to be changed in shape and depth, the numberplate holder needs to be modified. If you want to get the look right, you also need to modify your bootlid (hatch) and the interior boot trim.

Yes, but it does require heavy modification. It is too wide, so you have to chop a bit out of the middle and rejoin as well as fibreglass the sides to tie in with the Celica rear quarters. Oreo's car also has the Supra rear bumper IIRC.

im pretty sure he never got around to finishing it. the reason it looks good is cause the lights are up higher than most people put them and he molded a supra bumper on there to...by far the best looking conversion and i wish i could have seen it done frown.gif

^ i remember those pics. sucks it got totalled. that was the sexiest supra taillight/rear bumper conversion ever. he also had the uber rare trd front bumper, but luckily it wasn't on the car when it got totalled.

oreo's if it ever got finished was one of the best looking celica's i've ever seen.

He also had the RARE trd front bumper with projectors.

I sure he gets another celica.

Maybe, but how much modification needs to be done to the Supra rear end to fit? I am sure it is a whole lot wider than ours. It would need to have a large portion cut from the middle and FG'd back together.

a good reason is money, or the lack thereof.

If you have the time to develop it, then do so. I noticed the M3 front end is a little too wide for the front, so if you have the time and money the please do. I would like to see it.

widebody RHD curren-supra conversion with lambo doors and engine swap.... thats a good name. biggrin.gif

whoa. idk if people are joking or serious, but cool it. because playr has made some pretty nice things,(aka CF wrapped trunk for coupe) and some pretty scary things. (aka the suprica) but its people like him who think "outside the box" that keep the tuner culture moving forward and developing new ideas. Some of the ideas ur like "WTF?!" but after there done, and u see them its like, "wow..." thats when u insert foot into own mouth.

as for the actual topic, oreo was the only one that had a good conversion. Ive seen a few others but Oreo, by far was the best. The conversion is alot of time, and money. If your looking for something different, and have the time, and the money to devote to it, go for it, just if your going to, dont do a half ass job, be paitient and make something nice.

thanks for the insult very mature dude, you should be more receptible toward critics, especially when you post stuff like that front end conversion, you're the one looking like a "n00b" with bodywork, looks like you have pretty big shoe to fill-in after your comments.

gt4 bandwagon??? theres probably under 10 cars looking like mine in Canada, and I've seen more people modling supra tailights behing their car than gt4 conversions fyi.

If you want to joke around do it respectfully, I was kidding, but you took it the wrong way. rolleyes.gif

if you wanna do a supra tailight conversion, you must use a supra bumper becuase the back is more flat. celica bumpers have the bulge in the botton and the conversion will not look right no matter where you put the lights.

i think this one was pretty well done, but nothing compares to oreos....if you dont do the supra bumper with it, youd be better off not doing the conversion at all.

what sections need cut out of the supra bumper to fit? i was guessing the middle, but then you would have liscense plate issues*

i think this one was pretty well done, but nothing compares to oreos....if you dont do the supra bumper with it, youd be better off not doing the conversion at all.

i remember seeing that. i don't like the angled lights and plate.

One more 6gen Celica-Supra smile.gif

hate it.

supra tails only work with the bumper. the only other non-celica tail lights that seem to flow with a celi rear are the s2k tails.

A Supra is a Supra, a Celica is a Celica. They need to be left this way.

^ x2, its obviously a show car, if he hadn't angled it those lights would look tremendously better. i was just saying that it looks like he did good work all, the molding and fitting looks like it was well done. also x2 on the s2000 tails, i remember that car, those look sick.

Oreo's and the S2K one's are the only ones I like out of all of those. I especially hate the angled liscense plate.

A good comparison between the two:
IPB Image

I have a 6gc and a mkiv. Honestly, I like parts of the celica more than the supra. I mean hands down, supra ftmfw. But I love the celica's interior, weight, handling, awd capability, and 3sgte possibility; but the sleek style of the supra is still unsurpassed. I think an Oreo tail conversion with a mkiv trd widebody fabricated (to widen up the front end so the headlights don't look huge) and supra headlights would be the ultimate street machine.

Reminds me too much of the 4 round lights on a Chevy Impala. Not exact of course, but close enough that it was the first thing I thought of when I saw them.

IPB Image

The S2000 ones look alright, but I still think the JDM Celica tails look just fine on our cars.

haha, that's before I got mine. I was terrified if I got too close the owner would come out and kill me. He parked as far away from the other cars as possible. biggrin.gif
