As you guys know, I bought it in 2002 from my aunt. So I am the second owner. The car has only 41000 original miles and has never been in anaccident. What I'm saying is that the car is pretty unique, and it also has a lot of sentimental value to me. The thing is that now that I got out of the Army last year, my priorities changed. So now, I want to get another house, because my neighbors keep pushing me to get another house, and mod it how I want it. You know how females are...they love houses and decorating them. So now I want a new house, and leave my father and sister in this one. I'm thinking, "I have to spend at least $10,000 more to get the Celica where I want it with the bodywork, paint, and the rest of the things to make it pretty". The cars as it is right now, all ****ed up, turns heads, and it's unique in the island. There are only a few more, and are in worse condition and high mileage. But the problem is that I also want a new bike...an '07 Triumph Daytona 675. I have an addiction with bikes, and that would be my third one. I'll eventually get rid of the Ninja. Anyway, the car has been down for so long, I learned to cope without it. I now ride even if it's raining hard. I'm used to it. So the car is occupying space, and not doing a damn thing, which is bad as we all know. So I was thinking of pulling off all the turbo stuff, and sell it NA, and sell the turbo stuff here, or just part it out for you guys, and suck up the hard feelings. I have a knot in my throat right now, and I'm a guy that hasn't cried in almost three years. I love the car, but I came to realize that my future doesn't involve him. Too much money to spend, when I could buy the bike, and not even miss it. But I know I will miss it. Yeah, this is a sad story. I cannot believe that after all these years saying that I would never sell it, I'm finally selling it.

Should I keep it, and work on it little by little as a project car, or should I pass it off to someone else? I really don't want to get rid of it, but just to think that I have to spend thousands to get it where I want it, right now I don't feel like investing in something that will depreciate.

It just that it overwhelms me seeing it like that...laying there, paint stained by rat piss, all all dinged up from my father driving it, and the accident with the hood opening that I had. I see all that's wrong with it, and it overwhelms me. I have OCD, so you can imagine myself looking at it and finding every single thing wrong with it bodywork wise. And all the little miscellaneous things missing, like fasteners, underbody plastics, door panel covers, etc. I cannot cope with that stress. I have a mental condition and it prevents me from being happy with something if I find any faults with it. frown.gif That's why I'm getting rid of the Ninja. My dad dropped it with the car, and now it's scratched, and I cannot see it like that.

tough decision. do what makes you happy. if its the bike, then sell the celica while you can still get a decent amount for it and get the bike. but it sounds as though you would really miss it. in that case, id say keep it. if you can live without the celica, id say save the money you have planned for it and put it towards a new car.

just read your post above. i would just get a new car in better condition. chances are you would forget the celica and love the new car. as much as i like my car, i know its not the best car out there. if i could find a b5 audi s4 at a decent price, i would sell my car in a heartbeat.

I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra scary to me, because there's a large, out-of-focus monster roaming the countryside.

I dunno...I feel so good driving it. I've driven all kinds of expensive cars, but there is something about the Celica that I love. I feel so happy driving it. And it's such a headturner, heheh. I know I'll get over it, but the fact that I had so many plans for it, and now I'm ditching them, makes me sad. I realized I'm not the type of person to have something incomplete. I need things that are new, and that look good. Seeing a project car just give some stress, and I don't have patience to work on it myself. I guess I'll sell it.

i know what you mean. i work at a dealership and i drive a lot of different cars and they are all worth a lot more than my car. i would still rather have my car than most of them. your right, the 6gc is a headturner. that said, there are a few cars i would sell my car to get. b5 s4, wrx, legacy gt, 350z and some others. problem is i cant justify making payments on a new car when the one i have still works fine. if your car needs a lot of work and is causing you stress, i agree, sell it and get something else you like.

That's another reason why I don't want to get rid of it. I paid for it cash, and it looks current. Doesn't look old compared to new cars. But whatever...I know I'll get over it. I just wish I was in the continental US to sell it to somebody from the forums, and not some average joe in the island that would sell it or not take care of it.

Look at the celi as ur personal life project. You mentioned you have OCD and you need everything to be perfect, use the celi as the part of you that allows to actually work on controlling your OCD and its healthy to have patience rather than taking the easy way out and selling it to buy another bike. Sell the ninja, get another house, consider your car a work in progress... work on fixing the small things that annoy you bit by bit and buy a bike if thats what ur heart is set on. You have a nice celica that needs some TLC, and everything in life needs work, cars, bikes, wives, gf's, houses... Keep the celi. You've gone so far with it now you should keep going.

Wow, man, I didn't see it that way. You're absolutely right. I am taking the easy way out, and that's not the type of person I am. I like to work on problems to fix them. You know, this was just what I needed to hear/read. I think I'll be keeping it after all. I didn't see it from your point of view. biggrin.gif

If its totally holding you back, do what you gotta do, but if it really means something, don't rush just work on it little by little.
