Im gonna be installing my new speakers in my doors on friday and im just trying to figure out how to get em off and if the adaptors i got with my speakers will fit.
this is the adaptor i got with the speakers, they are 6.5" JBLs ![]() would that work with the front speakers?? I remember there was somethin strange about the size of the front speakers and most ppl had to order thouse adaptor plates off the net. Any ways, back to the door pannel question, im guessin there is thouse 2 or 3 clips at the front, taking off the door handel cup, and then im lost there. Is it just clips??? Any help would be great. Thanks Bryan |

Ok,
First, as you said take out the screw in the handle cup and remove that. Then take out the large gold screw inside there holding the panel in place. Then, there are two screws under the two round pop off cover caps near the front of the panel. One screw in the hole in the armrest 4 screws along the bottom edge 3 small round clips on the outside edge then lift up and remove I think that's all of em mate EDIT: Before removing, prise up the elec window switch panel from the back edge, and the red light, and disconnect them. QUOTE(Valo666 @ May 30, 2007 - 5:03 PM) thanks luke..now just for the speaker question. Would thouse work??? IIRC the original speakers are 20cm, you'll just have to try them i think. If they don't work out, you might have to make a ring out of MDF or something, fix the speaker to that, then screw that to the housing. -------------------- |

When you do get round to it, PM me to let me know how it went. I've gotta get round to doing the same job on my car. I'm a bit worried about re-fitting my door panels though cos they never seem to go back properly!

Think i'll do what you've done and get some 20cm drivers for the front doors, that should sound pretty sweet I reckon.

so progress, i finaly got aorund to measuring the speaker mounts, and the ones i have posted up top, go up to 7 3/4", aka 19.86CM, so they might work. So either tonight or tomorrow im gonna strip the door skins off and try and see if they mount up.

just remember that if they dont... all you have to do is either buy one of those plastic chopping boards or 9mm mdf wood and arm yourself with a drill and jigsaw.

That'll be 6.299 inches then.

Just to let you guys know, i didnt know if anyone has figured this out before me

It was a right cow to get back on. Even when I did manage to refit it, it wasn't quite the same after that!

I know 16cm = 6.3" but maybe they just round off their numbers and a 6.5" speaker is really 6.3, or a 16cm speaker is really 16.5cm. so, are a 16cm and a 6.5" speaker the same size just one is english mesasurment and the other is metric? all I really want to know is, will a 6.5" speaker bolt right up to my rear speaker brackets? if not, will any size bolt up? -------------------- ![]() 94 GT - Sold -------- 69 Pontiac Lemans - Sold 88 Alltrac - Sold ---- 04 WRX - Sold 00 GT-S - Sold ------ 91 Miata - project/drift car 95 GT - Sold -------- 96 GT - New Daily Drive |

in the rear, 6.5's bolts up with some bastardizing. You gotta cut the mount a bit with a hacksaw and you also gotta use an adaptor.
