I knew that the Geo Prizm's had the same engine as the Celica. But my friend just bought a 03' Cav and it has the same engine as my 94' GT (2.2 L). I guess that makes since because the Prizm and the Cav are both from the same company. What other cars have the Celica engines*?

*Besides other Toyota's b/c my mothers camry has the 2.2 L engine also.

don't want to sound like an ass but those engines have nothing in common with ours exept displacement.
tons of cars have the same displacement motors as others but that doesn't mean there the same

why did you write 2002 Cavalier when your friend bought a 2003?

anywho

yea i heard that once but it was from some dumb ricer.

thats like saying that the 7a-fe (1.8L) is the same as a B18C5

i bet you guys with the ST's would like that.

edit: who told you that Geo Prizms have the same engine?

have you ever raced one? they are slow as hell..

if they had the same engine they would spank celicas because of the weight difference

OH Speaking of ricers, Some kid tried telling me the displacement was what your HP was equal to

IE
1.8=180HP
2.0=200HP
2.2=220HP
350 Motor 5.7=570HP
Corsicas with 3.1's=310HP

WOW I played along with him, I had the time of my life.

I GOT SMOKED BY A 310 HP CORSICA!!! HAHAHAHA!

now is that with or without the body kit that doesnt belong on there. because you do know that cavi owners will swear its adds at LEAST 35 hp. and that they have potential with n/a up to 300+

Some mid 90's Prizms and Metros did have the 7afe. I forget which one it was, but one was based on the Corolla, which came with the 7afe in some versions.

I have a friend who owns a Jaguar, who first insisted that he had a V-8 (It was an I-6), and then insisted he had 300 HP not 225 despite all of the records and websites in the world because "he could feel it". Guess that means I beat his 300 HP Jag.

Most people don't know jack about cars or even what "v" means in V-8. They couldn't tell you what was under their hood if they popped it and stared right at the engine. Some people still think that V-6's are always slower than V-8's despite the fact that technology helps them make a lot more horsepower than many older V-8's. Oh yeah, the new ecotec engine makes 140 hp. It's also in the new Saturn ION.

Ecotec. I just love saying that. Ecotec. I have many friends who think automatically just because you have a V-6 compared to an I-6 and I-4 that the bigger badder engine will always win. Then I quote off the V-6 found in mazda MX-3 (110 HP) vs the I-6 3sgte. That will normally get them thinking.

The ecotec is 140hp. They are actually good engines. I know of one that blew up because they were running at 98mph and 7K RPM!!! That would blow up almost any motor

The Geo Prizm was basically a Toyota Corolla rebadged and restyled slightly under the Geo badge that is owned by Chevy so it had a 7afe and some maybe a 4afe, the ones that are really slow. He figured that since the Cavalier was 2.2l it might also share the same engine as the Toyota. A lot of companies share engines/platforms like dodge/mitusibshi, etc.
