Ok, I have a new Hatch-looking wing. I went to put it on tonight, but there was a little snag... I can't get the old wing off. I think it's glued or something. Has anybody hadthis happen? Do I just pry it off as gently as possible, or will it take the paint with it,,,, which is a VERY bad idea. HELP!!!

Well there is one more set of bolts on the inside of the hatch that you have to remove. To get to them your going to have to remove the black trim pieces on the inside of the hatch, then you will see the two bolts. Hope that this helps.

I should have made this clearer.

I took the bolts off, and it was holding very tightly still. like I said, I think it has glue on it, I just don't know what to do about it.

Haha...its funny that you just asked this question because i just took my spoiler off two days ago. Ya that stuff is a bitch but you just have to pull slowly and hardly (sorry if that sounds like im a three year old). IT will slowly just start to unstick and then in an instand it will pull free..but watch it cause i punched myself in teh nose when it came free and gave myself a bloody nose..haha...but anyways..ya just do that and then you'll probably have alot of the black rubber stuff that was sealing it to the car. Just get some goof off or just plain soap and water and go to town rubbing it off. If you use the friction of your hands it will get most of the big pieces off..but then you'll need some sort of cleaner to get the rest off. It take about half an hour to get that stuff off..so be pacient. Good luck.

K, that glue crap sucks! I removed my spoiler 3 times in the process of putting my new one on and it held just as strong as the first time. I actually used clothespins (you know the ones with the spring, you can separate the two halves) as wedges and just hammered em in under the posts. I slowly added one then two pins to increase the "wedge" size and then it was easier to pull up on - eventually, the whole thing came up. Then I used bug and tar remover to get the excess goo off the trunk. Be really patient, thats the best advice...just take your time. Good luck!

All are good Ideas. Well, after Tuesday of next week, I'll be free of school for an entire week, so I'll put on my new spoiler then. smile.gif

Use lighter fluid it takes about 15 minutes for it to get rid of the glue, it's strong enough to take off the glue but it won't harm the paint.

Just make sure you clean the trunk off after your done. just in case it does some how start to get into the paint.

Well, I'm thinking I'm just not gonna put the wing on until I get side skirts and fog lights. I'll have fog lights at the end of this month, and I have a guy that's going to sell me his skirts, so I'm gonna have a Celica Work Day!!!

I figure I'll use a needle of sort and inject some lighter fluid around the bases of my spoiler, let that sit for a while, and then try and use wire or fishing line to cut a layer out of the clue. We'll see. Thanks for the help guys.

Lol, your all worried about your paint and your gonna inject stuff with syringes? and try to take it off with a wire? Don't let the lighter fluid sit too long or your paint will be gone. Just pull it off! smile.gif

nono, see, the stuff holding it on is like double sided tape or something(I read on celica.net I think) so I'm going to run the wire or fishing line through the middle of it, and see if I can't clear it out. Then I'll use a needle to inject lighter fluid into the hard to reach places. See what I mean? Plus, I'll have a friend of mine there that does body work to help, so... We'll get it done. I just need side skirts first so I can 'transform' my lowly 95 ST into a far better looking animal! wink.gif
