Hi Everybody,
I just purchased a used 94 Celica ST Hatchback with 86,000 for $5,000(I also have a 99 Pontaic Grand Am V6). I have read throughout the website and I noticed that there arent to many parts for my engine, but the parts that I did see had no links to websites that provide these parts. I already have the Dolecek Dr.CAI, and Jet reprogrammed chip(after mods) on my "Need to Buy List", but I also want to get an exhaust system and headers. What exhaust system will give me the most power gains and that is also legal in California? I dont really care about the sound but the deeper the better. I think the Dolecek exhaust system is not legal in California. I know that Greddy makes an exhaust system for the GT but will that fit on an ST also? I also want to purchase some heads but all the posts I've read have no links and no pricing. Can someone give me link where I can find some headers for my ride? Sorry for all the questions, but Thanks!. PEACE. |

Dont worry about it, these questons get asked alot by people who have just bought a Celica...just do some research in the parts database on this site, and you'll find a decent ammount of parts available for the 7a-fe engine.
As far as bolt on mods go, such as exhaust, intakes, etc....you'll only see a very small increase in HP, because the 7a-fe is a lower output economy engine, so basically dont expect any real noticable gains from bolt-ons, just so you dont get your hopes up. ![]() You can get the Greddy SP for your ST, and it would fit perfectly....it sounds nice and deep too, although i dont know about being legal in cali....and for a header, there are several choices, most meant for the corolla's 7a-fe, but it will fit the Celica ST. You could also get a lightened flywheel and performance clutch to help get more power to the ground from the flywheel if power is what youre after. Welcome to the site and good luck with the Celica, you'll learn alot if you just hang around these forums for a while. ![]() -------------------- 3rd gen ST205 3SGTE - Alive and boosting. |

You can get a header for your motor off of ebay for about 150.00 I just ordered mine off of there. Do a search under corolla on ebay.

Thanks a lot guys. I would definately get new flywheel and clutch but it's an automatic. This car will be driven mainly by my girlfriend that's why I bought an automatic but I have to add some performance to every car I buy to see how fast it can go. I'll definitely search for the headers on ebay if I could get them for $150. The car feels really slow but im going to try and make it the one of the fastest automatic ST's on this site ; ).
Are the engine internals and transmission really weak? The reason I ask is because I do not want to add all these mod's and then have to worry about my tranny messing up or I dont want to blow a cylinder or something, even though im not going to add a turbo or supercharger. I would go for the engine swap but I dont want to go through all that and spend a lot of cash, besides I have to keep it an automatic for my girl. By the way, Who has the fastest Celica ST on this site? Just curious. PEACE!! |

well, in order to make your car the fastest ST auto on this site you would most definately have to go turbo or at least get a 75 shot with all the needed fuel upgrades. go with the basics at first, intake, exhaust, header(if you can find one, or mod a corrola header), and UD pulley. also, make sure that the fluids are all good in the car. bad transmission fluid really kills the efficiency of a tranny, especially an auto tranny. also, a shift kit would help out a bit, but thats going beyond basic bolt ons -------------------- 1994 Celica GT4 WRC Edition

Hey, how often should you replace the transmission fluid?

Sup Nate, Im in Ventura County in So Cali.
Thanks, 97sccelica. I was actually looking at the nitrous kit they have for this car and it looks tempting. I guess im not going to have the fastest automatic ST on this site since I dont really want to spend thousands more on the turbo especiall if it has to be a custom made turbo kit. I guess I'll just have to do with CAI, Exhaust, Headers, Reprogrammed ECU and some good ol nitrous. I hope that that will at least put me in low 15 or high 14 in the quarter mile. I would definitely add a turbo but do you think the transmission would be able to handle all that extra power, also including all the other mod's except the nitrous? I also cannot add a turbo because im going to me a 99-01 Subaru Impreza RS 2.5 and turbo the hell out of that car so im kinda trying to save some money. But you never know. |

dont forget to do some fuel delivery work on the car. if you want to run nitrous reliably and safely, it is a must that you make sure your engine never goes lean. and im not really sure with our cars but generally you change the fluid at around 70k miles. or when it starts looking dirty. and why not a wrx? what is the price difference between a used 2.5rs and a used wrx? i plan to do something like that. one of my dad's oldest friends works at miller mitsubishi as a sales manager. he keeps saying a lot of good things about the evo8 to my dad, and my dad actually likes the car. "Anthony, is this car faster than your car?" "Dad, this car will run circles around my car in the 1/4 mile and still be faster" my dad is planning on getting a new car in about 5-6 months, so by then the dealer mark up on the car will be gone and he woll get his friend some commision. oh and the best part is, he doesnt want to drive a new car to work, which means he will take my car and i get his car during the week till he retires in a year. -------------------- 1994 Celica GT4 WRC Edition

The reason I want an RS2.5 is because there's not to many of those on the streets and most people know that they dont come turbo charged so it's kinda going to be a sleeper or something. Also I like the 2.5 engine also. I think the STI has the same engine(not sure) so I hope to be able to get some STI pats for my engine. My first goals for this car will be to get it into the high to mid 14's without turbo. That means I will need a new flywheel, clutch, pulley, headers, CAI, CAMS(Cobb tuning) and maybe the head cyclinder (Cobb tuning). That's what I cn think of off the top of my head. The RS 2.5 does a 15.2 to 15.7 in the 1/4 mile stock so I wouldnt be surprised if all those mods get me into the low 14's.
Ahhhh Im am sooo jealous. I wanted an Evo but like you said that markup is a little steep for my wallet. The MSRP price is still to high for me. Maybe after im done playing with the impreza jump towards a new Evo but that's about a year from now. All I can say is that your going to have the time of your life driving that car. What kind of fuel delivery upgrades do I have to do to add a nitrous kit? Will it cost much? Thanks to all of you for your Help!! PEACE!! |

well, a better fuel pump would help a lot, and i think an adjustable fuel pressure regulator, bigger injectors(im not too sure, i dont look too deeply into nitrous, i prefer to have the power there all the time). of course you could get an SAFC and have a shop tune it for you, plus they look good
