I know there is a kit to do it, but can a(n) alarm system with trunk popping tech do it alone?

all it takes is a solenoid and some wires along with a button. hook that button to a remote or alarm with aux button with a relay and your good to go.

I think I understand now. the answer is no.

you need the kit.
