So i pull up to jamba juice and get out of my car. a lady probably about 65 rolls down her window (shes sitting passenger side in a huge truck) and says "thats a cute car, what kind of car is that" I reply with oh its a celica and shes like "wow theyve upgraded those i had a 74 celica" i then reply with "oh mines a 94" she then continues to say "really? i thought it was a newer model than that. well its a beautiful car and it fits you perfectly"

I love when people compliment my car

Don't know what its like over there but there should really be
a compulsory retest for like when you hit 65 or so.
We all know eyesight, judgement and road skills just get worse
once you hit a certain age. A while back we had a huge smash
here where a granny was travelling up the wrong way on
a motorway. She survived, her excuse -she got lost rolleyes.gif

I get that over here all the time nat. The 74's were the old version of our cars in my opinion. Have much the same curves, and all the oldies I've talked to who used to have a '74 LT always comment on how much they look like my car (also a '94).

btw. The thing I can't get over is all the ****ing idiots over here who on the two lane roads sit on the inside lane when there are signs saying "keep left unless overtaking". GRRRRRRRRR! today I was on a 300km trip coming back from a holiday and it took my 30mins or so longer cos of those ****wits!

Did everyone see about that old dude in Cali who drove through the market and hit 50 people? His first official statement was, "They should have gotten out of the way!"

Actually I did. Not normally I watch world news cause it's all who the US attacked next (no offense but your President ain't any better than our Prime Minister and he sux the big one!!!) but the story we got was he got confused from which was the acceleration and which was the brake. Take away his car and licence!

And to the original posting: I live near 3 retirement villages but so far only one old guy have stopped on his evening walk and said nice car (whilst washing it). Problem is what do I say "yea I know that's why I brought it." I don't want to sound rude but I am, not a big talker more a doing person.

And to the forth post: 3 retirement villages - not an area for fast driving, regurlary stuck behind a volvo and some rebels have been through recently so there is more cops than ever. I loved 2fast2furious but now when the 300ZX goes out - The Cop "are you street racing? have you got any modifactions on this vehcile?" Just let me go the movies in peace or areast me for doing 60 in a 60 Zone, Bloody Buggers!!!! mad.gif

Yea, but kids are far worst drivers than old people.

Actually, in Washington, people older than I believe it was 71 or so get in more accidents than people who are 16. My mom showed me a chart of it, and at 16, the accident rate is high, and then it drops until somewhere in the 40s and then it starts to rise, and at some point(I believe it was 71), the number of accidents is higher than the people who are 16, and it continues to rise to dangerous levels.

Also, I'd argue that kids may drive more aggressively which leads to more accidents, but they are also more alert(generally speaking), which leads to less accidents. It seems to me like old people try to drive safely and not aggressively which leads to less accidents(Though this isn't always the case...the other day I was almost ran over by an old man in a Costco parking lot doing about 35.), but they just aren't as alert and aware of their surroundings, which leads to more accidents. For example, they're so focused on trying to look straight ahead to try to drive safe that they won't see speed limit signs or a kid walking across a crosswalk, or they merge onto the freeway at 40 miles per hour because they think it's safer to drive slow.
