Hey it would be a good idea to put the person on 6gc's name down that way everyone knows not to buy from him. Also i would talk to Coomer and let him know the story. There have been a few people that just join and try to sell somthing to make money and then they take off.

your best bet is to let coomer know as well as use the feedback system. that old thread isn't the best way to do it. the feedback system is the best route.

I think some ppl here need to look twice before buying. Not that it's your fault eggman but looking at his profile/join-date and making the FS posts and the stupidly low prices of parts without pics could had given you second thoughts. or at least a bit of doubts.

The feedback system isn't as perfect as it could be. If you look at my reputation it says 0% but it doesn't mean I haven't sold anything here or bought anything from here. I have from a dozen of people, but it doesn't concern me as much because I've been a member for 2+ years and most people know me by now. Even if problems should arise with me not paying/sending items you could clearly contact other Dutch 6GC members of which I'm in contact with. Not that that will ever happen of course.

It's not the responsibility of this site (or Coomer/Mods for that matter) to "uphold the law" (dont know how else to phrase it) it can only do as much as the Feedback system (with a few additional tweeks) and give you pointers , but in the end you (the person that is buying) are the one responsible for looking if stuff is fishy or not.

as much as i HATE to say it, its a "buyer beware" world.
guys, and gals, you NEED to do your homework before you buy ANYTHING from ANYONE on the internet.
i dunno, it just seems like common sense to me.

What tweaks do you suggest? If you don't use the system, then it's not going to be useful.

And to RUNNIN-LOW, did you pay via Paypal? And have you contacted him and kept records? Do you have his phone number?

Edit: I just contacted who you bought your part from, and he said his girlfriend shipped it and he'd ask for the tracking number and send it to both you and I.

Thats not always the case...I was in on a Boomer sideskirt group buy like 2 years ago for 190 dollars run by Tim (boostedK2). Im not putting the blame on him but the first group of people received theirs first. I waited to see how the GB went and it seemed like a success. I gave my 190 dollars and never got my skirts and neither did 4 or 5 others. Tim tried callin the guy but he never answered and eventually changed his number. U can do ur homework all u want but that doesnt mean anything and i will never trust anybody on this site unless i buy somethin in person.

In my opinion, it is kinda assinine to to send people money u dont even know and have never met with no real policy to get your money back if something did happen. But whatever floats your boat.

personally a won't buy anything too expensive on here unless that person is a regular on the site or i have feedback from others who have purchased from them. now if someone just up and joined and posted that they were selling a turbo set up for a good deal i wouldn't trust them unless i could pick it up in person. yes, there are scumbags even on this site. luckily for me i haven't had any problems with anyone. this is by far the best place to find parts for our cars if you ask me.
but then again, what do i know

I dont think i've been ripped off here before, for the most part I dont buy anything big, and stuff that was worth more value I have bought in person. it is a risk/trust thing, and in many cases there arnt other sites/stores to buy rare parts for our cars so you gata decide if its a risk worth taking (you are basicly giving your money to a stranger you dont probably dont know and hopping they give you something in return for it.) I've sold plenty of stuff here and would not even think to rip someone off, its just wrong, not only would hurt me as a person but hurts the reputation of this site that I've been with for years and learned almost everything about my car from.

I have done transactions with people with no feedback, but as creis said, it is all about trust. I gave a little trust to those who were sending me parts, or better yet, me sending them parts first so that they can turn and send me the parts I need.

Locally, I'll just meet up. I did that with Creis, celicast3sgte, and Coomer.

I understand your worry. I didn't give you excuses. I just kept you updated, instead of waiting until shipping them to write you a PM back. I'm not sitting in my house all day in front of the PC with my thumb up the ass. I have a life. Thanks for your fast payment. Sorry for the late shipment. If anybody has a doubt, insurance number is VH 340 001 855 US and tracking number is 0307 0020 0003 8919 0747. Wait until you get ripped off to mention names. That's what the thread is all about, not about if you have an eerie feeling. smile.gif

If you are going to buy something from someone, make sure they have positive feedback and an actual account. Second get their email address and phone number and make sure you pay with paypal or a Capital One Card where you can cancel your transaction and not worry about your money being stolen.

I sent a payment of 65 to a seller for a caliper that never ever came etc, I also bought a set of headlights that took forever to come (only shipped after i filed paypal claim) but when i got them they were all busted.

EDIT: make sure if you ever file a paypal claim, DO NOT cancel it until you have resolved the issue or havve recieved the correct working item etc. I canceled my paypal claim once the guy had shipped (tracking number) but then when i got the broken headlights, i tried to do a new payapl claim and you are only allowed to do it once for a transaction...
