sure man, would be much better than a camera phone. Remy's camera is pretty good too, he's the one that took the vid of the engine open header. I need to shoot a good video, all the videos from my phone are super scratchy.

i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.

damn! that's sweet. i hope to do something similar.

questions:
1. is there room for the AC?
2. do you know if you can get a front strut brace in there?

Driving impression - It's quite a joy to drive, example, passes cars like if they were stopped... w/o down shifting. Having a large amount of torque in 80% of my RPM really makes the Celica feel light and strong.

corners are very sensitive to the right foot, a little too much and I'll find myself under steering like if I was on a patch of ice. Speaking of ice, when I'm driving on wet pave I can spin 1,2,3 like spinning on ice (rpm moves freely to the redline)

In 1st gear I can spin/chirp/break loose on command, in 2nd I can almost chirp/spin on command but it takes a bit of a shock to break traction or else it just takes off.

jdg371 - I'm pretty sure 245's would hold good as long as you don't pop the clutch, in corners they will spin if you put down the pedal too much and on a hard launch they would spin quite a bit but I'm just guessing here, put a V6 in your car and find out biggrin.gif (V6GC#2 spot is still open, i think)

Zimluura - AC Fits no problem, MZ compatible compressor, some custom hoses in the worst case et voila
Right below the alternator is where it goes, pretty much the same spot as the 5SFE compressor. You can spot my two old lines from my AC (pict below)

The stock strut bar fits in there but it gets in the way of the engine rocking back and forth... not good
You'd pretty much have to make your own strut bar. Later down the road if demand is there I will be making custom parts for the V6 including a nice beefy strut bar. No promises though, It all depends how busy I am.

ES-TU MENTAL???

how much and when can we start? i knew someone could put a v6 in a celi. so much spare room in that bay. my bro just bought a beater avalon and says he will only put it on the road this winter. i already called dibs on the motor (it as less that 150K on the odo), but the body is shot thanks to the Greater Moncton roads and all the fracking salt they put down around here.

BTW going to Monkeytown this weekend for training, might see/hear you on Mountain Road.

dabazied: In it's stock form the 3MZFE doesn't have a high tolerance for boost, the V6 of choice for turbo setups are the VZ series. Much heavier but very strong. However, like a lot of motors, there is aftermarket internals for the MZ to make it handle high amounts of boost.

I picked the 3MZ for it's instant response, fat torque curve, high power and still be able to get 30MPG+ out of it. It's the perfect blend of power, economy and OEM reliability. Did I mention it weighs less than a 3SGTE
(I tend to sound like a salesman)

In a drag race, the 3MZ would destroy a stock 2nd gen 3SGTE w/o a doubt. A stock 3rd gen would probably beat it on the long stretch. The 3MZ kills all at take off, I still haven't found a consistent way of launching w/o losing traction.

Lagos: sorry, I didn't get a chance to go dyno it yet. Unfortunately it won't be until march/april until it's is back from hybernation.

It's winter here. The car is parked for the winter so I'll have to provide proof next season.

Lets put it this way, maybe it will beat the stock 3SGTE, maybe it won't. Who knows? I don't feel like doing bench racing. I'll report the outcome of my first encounter with a 2nd gen 3SGTE.

Track times, dyno charts, racing and all that hype is not my priority at this point. Which explains the delay to provide numbers. I always find something to improve, I'm never 100% satisfied, which causes me to postpone getting numbers.

Like for example: god those headers are restrictive, need to make a custom set. Damn my intake is only 2.5 in diameter and not cold air, it should be 3in and run down in my fender. Those tires don't hook the road, I need new rims and rubber, my suspension is stock and sloppy, my motor mounts slam when I shift, my dome light is not bright enough, my carPC is too slow, need paint, I'm broke /exaggeration biggrin.gif

I should have it out in march-april 08. As soon as the salt is washed off the roads. It's been less than 2 weeks and I'm already driving myself crazy w/o it.

stephen lee:
The three other mounts depend entirely on your choice of transmission. Use GT mounts for a S54 or use ST205 (or modified ST185) for the E-153. My custom passenger side mount is simply a bracket that hold my old GT transmission top mount to the block with an other bracket to bolt it up to the chassis.

Just found this now. I was just wondering how everything with the car was holding up. And do you still have the car, i see the last post on this topic was in Nov. of 2007. Also i did not see any dyno sheets anywhere. Did you ever dyno the car.

Are you going to do a thread on it? I am very interested to see how it turns out. Also are you going to dyno it, or run it in a quarter mile. I am very curious on what numbers it will put up.

I still have the 3MZ celica and it's holding up strong, never broke anything even though I beat the living crap out of it for years. Unfortunately I have bought an other car (JDM 96 MR2T) and somewhat abandoned the celica.... I never took it to the dyno, I didn't really care what it put to the ground since it was mostly stock. If my financial situation improves (snow ball's chance in hell), I will take it to the track for some 1/4 mile times.

I don't want to sell it cause it's a great car and the V6 is soooo much fun but I might have to due to financial reasons and the lack of space in my driveway. Time will tell.
