Hi my name is Jason, i dont post much or ask for questions but this is the first serious problem that has got me stumped.

PROBLEM: no signals (working prior to my removal/attemp repair of hazard lights buttons)

Some info.
Originally when i press the hazard lights button, the left turn signal would just stay on and i couldn't use my turn signals. But when the hazard lights were off, signals worked. Same symptons as [2slow2nervous] So today i removed the hazard signal button attempting to clean it up hoping it would work. I was able to take it apart and cleaned it up, I THINK I ASSEMBLED IT PROPERLY BACK TOGETHER kindasad.gif I connected it back together and nothing happen so i was thinking, " didn't work, oh well." Later in the evening i went to the store and was signaling at an intersection only to realize my signal dont work anymore. ( i got a lot of honks and fingers for that) frown.gif

I first check both fuses to see if any were dead, the hazards fuse was. I replaced it; didn't work. The turn signal fuse was good. The i removed my entire console, tyring to repair wires that look loose; didn't work. I also reopened the hazard lights button but ended up snapping some of the small plastic pieces and is now broken for sure. I did not touch the dimmer switch.

Question for you guys.
Has anyone else experience this before, if so what did you do? Do you know if the signals and hazards lights are one complete circuit, meaning i would need a new hazard lights button to make it all work again. Lastly any suggestions?

I apologize for making you guys read so much. Thanks for all your input too!

it definitely is one complete circuit, if you remove your hazard button, your turn signals WILL NOT work, hope this helps

well i tried. when you go to toyota see if they will run a diagnostics check. i would think that the check would cover the wiring for the turns/hazards as well as anything else

Diagnostics Check cost 50 bucks and the hazard switch is going to cost me 63 with employee discount wink.gif
I was able to ask one of the mechanics, he told me that i just needed a new switch to complete the circiut and everything should be just fine. NOT THAT SERIOUS ANYMORE =)

But parts are coming from cali, so its gonna take a few days before i can get my car back on the road.
Once again thanx for all your guys help. A great community we have.

UPDATE.

A mechanic was looking up my problem and came up with a small solution that would only give me turn signals no hazard lights. That suits me just fine laugh.gif

DIAGRAM:

X 1 X X 2 X
5 6 7 8 9 10

These are the pin slots on the connector

SOLUTION:

If you connect pin slot 7 & 9 you will have completed the turn signal circuit, therefore you now have turn signals.

*NOTE* works great for me but im still waiting for batman hazard switch, dont like have a hole in my console surround tongue.gif

if your hazard switch isn't fully plugged in and functional nothing else will work.

the switch is pretty much just a connector to comlete 2 circuits. One circuit is the hazard lights and the other is the turn signals. When your using hazard lights, your disconnecting power to the turn signals and putting that power into the hazards. So by only completing the turn signal circuit you have the ability to use them.

My car has no switch right now just 2 wires in the connector, can't use hazards but does't matter to me.

Had the same problem here, my turn signals would work every once in while and then they would just stop, hazards wouldnt work at all, i checked all the bulbs, they were all fine, and it seemed the flasher under the dash was loose, every time i touched it the hazards would work, so check the flashers under the dash, its a pain in the ass pulling that **** out, you are crammed in a tight space but it eventually will come.
