I am almost done with installing the new tranny, but I cannot figure out where this ground wire goes. It mounts to the chasis behind the airbox. I have read on the forums that on gt's it goes to the starter, but the wire is only about a foot long and I do not see how it would reach on my st. HELP

That's too thin for your starter, it will burn up.
A ground wire has to be at least as large as the power wire. Attach it to your transmission. If you want to help extend the life of the starter, attach the heavy negative battery cable directly to one of the bolts that attach the starter to the trans. This will give you a slightly shorter ground with a better connection. FYI the neg battery cable normally is attached to the trans as well. The starter grounds through the trans case to the cable. -------------------- ![]() |

well, there is a ground on the tranny to the neg. battery cable, which also has a ground to the chassis. I know the starter is grounded because I have started the car up. I had hooked up that ground to the transmission, and the car developed a fault, I know this because it killed the power as soon as I tried to start it. *Sigh, I have that issue with my Porsche which still isn't fixed*

Bump
Surely somebody knows or can check to see where this goes. I do not want to burn up some of my electrics due to an improper ground ![]() |
