I finished my sub install up last night. I had chosen by the end of my work shift to go with the 10" Infinity Reference subwoofer, and man, am I glad that I did. This thing sounds amazing! It gets VERY loud (at least to me), without any rattling from outside or inside the car (I'm guessing my Dynamat played a roll in it). But it's briged to 2-ohm, running about 300W RMS from the amp. This thing is amazing! Loud, but best of all, you can't hear it outside of the car. It's exactly what I was looking for, sounds great with my hard rock, and amazing with my rap songs. Looks like I'll be listening to alot more rap now. biggrin.gif

It's awesome too, because my rear window has 20% tint, and you can't even see the setup through the window unless you shine a light through it, so at glance, looks like nothing is there. wink.gif The only downside to the project is that I no longer have any room in my hatch for stuff, lol.

No, I was originally thinking about buying a Basslink, which was a powered sub.

But I'm glad I picked this up instead. smile.gif

i think the best set up is infinity speakers and an audiobahn amp. i had 4 12 inch infinity kappa's and an audiobahn a8000t amp and that set up pounded. it was retartedly loud i mean if you sat in the car for a while with it cranked it would start to hrt your ears and make your throught feel funny.

So it can be left or right of the box, and it would be ok? I didn't want to do that, but if I have to, then I will.

EDIT: Could it be mounted on the right side of the box?

So the box should be behind the passenger back seat, and the amp should be to the left of the box, behind the drivers side back seat?

Does that produce better sound as well as give better cooling to the amp?

I moved everything over an hour or two ago. I cleaned up the wiring as well.

I didn't really get a chance to listen to it, but what does putting the sub on the passenger side do?

No, you dont move the sub around for sound depth. just try facing it a few ways and see if it is better. You don't need to point the sub towards the driver either. smile.gif

I was thinking about getting a 1/2 farad capacitor. Do you guys know if this would make a big difference?

I can get a Rockford capacitor for $40 at my work.

And it will give the amp a dedicated power source. I think I'll get it just to have. I don't want the amp taking power away from everything else.

I haven't even got my sub installed yet but I've tried readin up on them and seems like i read on this site somewhere to improveing your ground wire (move it closer to amp and possibly get a bigger one) could help the dimming problem
like the setup by the way i got the same sub except its 12 inch and its 4-ohm

It has been proven many times that caps are a band aid fix and places extra stress on your electrical system. 90percent of people who have dimming headlights etc is due to grounding problems.

Upgrade your grounds and you would not have any problems. The factory grounding of the celica is especially pathetic in the engine bay.

wouldn't it be cheaper to just fix the ground and save his $40? (well except for the cost of the new ground wires)

1/2 farad is recommended for 500W and below. That's fine, I'm just going to go with that. I get it for like $35.

You're right, might as well go with a One farad. BTW, I know you put your source from the battery to the cap to the amp, but how do I connect the wires from both sources and put it in the cap?

Good choice on the one farad... choose quality though ^^ rockford isnt any good, go to a shop and get a stinger

one goes to battery (+) and then another wire goes to am (+) and then (-) goes to ground... simplest way... use high guage wire for the caps... look at around 0-4

I know how to hook it up wiring wise, I'm just wondering how you connect the power from the amp and the power going to battery together at the positive post of the capacitor. All I see is a thread hole for a bolt. Do they usually come with the accessory needed to connect them?

I haven't heard it rattling yet, and I tested it with some hard bass. I'll see if I can hear it and if I can then I'll find some padding to put behind it.

Does everything look good besides that?
