hey everybody, i was driving around today, and my freakin clutch died on me, and now i'm in desperate need of a new clutch kit. OEM clutch kits is gonna be way to expensive, that's why i've decided to go for an aftermarket one. I own a 94 gt-s celica, with the 5sfe motor, which clutch kits would you advise/or available for my car? for some reason, i can't seem to find any available for my car, i see some available for the gt model though. PLEASE HELP

do you think the stage 3 clutch kit i provided a link for is a good choice, or should i get that exedy OEM replacement kit, and is there a fidanza flywheel available for my car, i'm lookin on ebay right now and it says 94-99 toyota celica 2.2ltr (5sfe)....i've seen this before when searching for my clutch kit on other websites, and they were only available for the gt model and not the gt-s model...i'mlike wtf? so yeah, i just wanted to make sure this flywheel will fit.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/FIDANZA-FLY...sspagenameZWDVW this would be the flywheel i was talking about. |

I say Southbend clutch stage 2 270 shipped. Works awesome on the stock flywheel. Works like crap with a fidenza light weight flywheel.

I dont want to knock on ebay because I get a lkot of stuff there, but I don't trust this F1 racing clutch. Stick with the brands you know. ACT has to be one of the top clutch imo but very pricey. TRD is the performance line for toyota, but also pricey and very good products such as clutch. Exedy is well known and is good. I stuck with southbend because the TRD clutch was horrible in traffic. I loved its peformance but the pressure you need to press down on the clutch was insane. I got the southbend stage 2 and it was just like stock peddle feel but offers the same perfoance.
heres the link http://www.dxdracingclutches.com/home.html You want to take a look at the TZ series. Forgot to mention the who clutch ordeal I had was on my 7th gen gts. -------------------- 98 Celica gt red- totaled deer

yeah i was a bit iffy about that F1 clutch too, but i tried ACT clutches, apparently they're only available on the ST and GT models...i couldn't find any available for the gt-s model. Also, if the southbend stage 2 clutch feels the same as stock (which is good), but offers same performance as stock (as so you say), i read up on the specs on the southbend stage 2, it offers some torque increase. But what would you (as in everybody) advise, to get the southbend stage 2 clutch kit, or get the exedy OEM replacement clutch kit w/ fidanza flywheel? And is the fidanza flywheel even available for the gt-s model?

The GT-S is canadian for GT in the US. You have the 2.2 liter motor. So your gt-s is the US spec GT car.
Next time when you search for anything for your car just remember that your gts is the us spec of a gt. I don't recommend using thr southbend clutch with fidenza flywheel. And about the stock performance with the southbend I never said that. I said that you will have the stock pedal feel but WITH the stage 2 performance you want. -------------------- 98 Celica gt red- totaled deer

I see. Yeah i didn't get my car too long ago so i don't know much about it yet anyway, from what you're saying about the gt comparison with gt-s, there is no difference between the two right? and do you think the exedy oem replacement with fidanza flywheel a good combination, or should i just go straight with the southbend stage 2?
oh haha sorry, i must've misinterpretted what you wrote then. Anyway, yeah getting the southbend one would be a bit cheaper cuz then i'd just use my stock flywheel rather than getting a new one since u said fidanza and southbend dont go well together. |

YES. I think the difference between the gt and gts in canada is the fact that the gts somes with the sport suspension or sealed front struts. Well You want cheap and I dont recommend ebay for something like a clutch. You can get the clutch for 270 shipped. Just make sure you get your fly wheel resurfaced. and You'll be good to go.

Yeah because i'm in desperate need of a new clutch kit because mine died, and i'm a daily driver and i need that car for commuting to school and back and for myself to use.

Dude toyota rapes people with their installs. Installing a clutch is easy. Just take your time. I was forced to bring my car to toyota when i was off to college in the middle of no where away from home and they charged me 400 for parts and labor for an axle install. I changed my other axle out for less than 150 when I went home for the weekend. You can easily find a small shop to do all your clutch work and flywheel resurfacing for less than 400 easily. Its all up to you.

yeah dealership does cost a lot for things like these, but haha dont wry my mechanic and I will be doin the install together so yeah, anyway since u said the fidanza flywheel is no good with the southbend stage 2 clutch, is there any flywheel that does work good with it cause i'm serously considering getting the clutch kit, but pondering on getting a flywheel too.

OK so i've come to a conclusion--either a Southbend stage 2 clutch kit for 270 shipped, or a centreforce dual friction clutch kit for about 300. However, the centreforce one i'm getting it local, whereas the southbend has to be shipped.
Could anybody give me their opinions on these two clutch kits and which one I should get? |

Which one did you end up going with? I'm in the process of selecting a new clutch for my 7A right now. I am torn between cheap and basic, or spending above my budget for a better brand.
Basically OEM exedy for ~$100 F1 stage 1 for ~$125 ACT HD00 or HDSS for ~$250-$300 |

Haha, sorry, I should've concluded this thread, well I got the Centreforce Dual-Friction clutch kit, it grabs very well, took me a couple days to get used to.
But for a heads up, if any of you decide to purchase this clutch kit, make sure you get a new bearing or use ur stock one because it doesn't include it in the box. |
