It adds an extra gear, so your rpm's would be lower...

Unless you notice a difference at take- offs then don't complain. That is about the RPM that you should be at for that speed with the OD on. Also it isn't another gear it is just the torque converter in front of the trans locking up. It has a clutch and most of the time it is unlocked and allowed to slip and when you are cruising at a constant speed and not accelerating or decelerating then it is locked.

Well the takeoffs are slower, as if the car was carrying something really heavy, if im on a stop and i press the accelerator all the way down, the car wont throw first gear until its almost hitting the 6500 revs!! and i think that shouldnt happen, -------------------- ![]() |

6500 rpm at WOT is what i get when my auto shifts up to 2nd from first. i also get about 2100-2200 rpm crusing in 4th with TCC lockup.
OD is 4th gear, the bump after 4th is the Torque converter clutch locking up. -------------------- |

I have a manual but I checked on my way home from work and at 2200 rpm in 5th gear I was doing about 55 mph. I dont know how much of a difference between auto and manual it would make on the rpms and speed but thats what I got at 2200 rpm.

ok,, but does the rpms have something to do with gas?
i mean, like saving it or wasting more? -------------------- ![]() |

55-60 miles using 1/4 tank for stop and start suburban driving is pretty normal actually. if its constat 65mph highway driving with no stopping then yes its low.

hmm well 1/4 of a 15-16 gallon fillup would be about 4 gallons, 4 gallons at 20mpg (the poorest I could imagine the 1.8 getting) = 80 miles. You got 55-60, thats like 15 mpg, something is definately wrong IMO. I get upwards of 30-31 mpg with my standard, and I got around 29-30 with my automatic when it was on the road. BTW all on 87 octane.
