hello guys,
found out why i was loosing coolant. they said it's going into the engine, 'cause i have a cracked head gasket. instead of just changing the gasket i'm thinking about getting the engine rebuilt. my budget is $1500. what should i do? what type of rebuilt stuff (p&p, heads, cams, etc.) or is there another engine you guys would recommend (except for 3sgte).

thanks in advance,

p.s i'm trying to get this done in a week so i really need your advice quick.

4age isn't going to be a direct fit with your mounts due to the fact that you have a GT.

what are my options for direct fit for the gt? or just do a "performance" rebuild?

p.s i don't even know what i mean by "performance" rebuild by it, lol. just trying to squeeze a little more power while we are at it.

First off the 5sfe isn't a performance motor. You want performance but with a budget of 1500 you cant do squat. I say just rebuild what you got. Or even get a remanufactured motor. Then later on down the road when you have money boost it. I'm actually thinking about going the remanufactured route so I can boost. Don't want to hassle with a front clip. I think I've done enough research, but can only hope for the same results as pressure2.

You basically take out the old put in the new. You can do it yourself. Hey if this deal falls through let me know.

has anyone here had their 5sfe rebuilt? what did you guys do to it? shaved the heads?p/p? anything? when i buy the used engine, i still want to get it rebuilt so that it's like new but before it goes in the bay, should i have a shop do anything special to it while it's out other than the ordinary rebuild?

with 1500$ your not going to be able to do much more than a "normal" rebuild.
for like 600$ more tho, you could have a built 5s bottom end done by MCS with cp forged pistons, 3s rods (the weak point of the 5sfe) (they grind the 5s rod journals to accept the 3s rods) and a fully balanced bottom end.
throw on a new metal headgasket, oil & waterpump ect, and your head, and your good for just about as much boost as you want to run.

From the add: "(ECU and wire harness are not included.)" So totally useless.

I know ... but this is no problem .... harness you can buy .... (some one from beams forum making it) ....ecu from RedTop too ....or stand-alone ECU

more details I can provide by PM ....
