two people are sittiing across from eachother with only desk separating them, but they cant see each other. whats the deal?

Ok heres mine:

You are a builder and you built a two stories house. On the upper floor you installed three lights but the three switches for those light are down stair on the ground floor. Problem is, you forgot which switch is for which light.

Now you can flip the switches on or off as many times as you wish but heres the catch, you can only go up stair once. How do you figure out which one is which?

Easy

First you put one light on for about 1 minute or so. Then flick it off turn on the second one and go upstairs.

The one thats still warm and but not glowing is the one you turned of the first time. The one you turned one is the 2nd one and the cold one is the one you didn't use.

OK heres another one:

Youve got 9 apples they look perfectly the same, same colour and everything, but one of them is slightly lighter than the rest and you dont know which one it it. Now you are given a balanced scale ( the one that you put something on one side and a weight on the other side ) and on two tries you must figure out the lighter apple.

How you you do it??

One more

A robber, a police, a woman and her two daughters, a man and his two sons all need to cross a river. There is only one boat and the boat can only carries two ppl at a time (one of them must be an adult). The police must always be with the robber (meaning he cant be on either side os ther river by himself). The woman must not leave her daughters with the man behind becoz the man will do some nasty shieet to them ad vice verse the man cant leave his sons with the woman behind.

Ok now you must work out a way to get them all across the river,you can cross the river as many times as you wish.
Hope my wordings are clear.

EDIT: also one person has to come back from the boat to take another.

Actually you cant, the boat can only carries two ppl at a time, so if the man takes one son over the other is left behind with the woman...

The cop shoots the robber in the legs so he can't run away, and then he takes the handcuffs off the robber and puts them on the father so he can't do anything tricky with the little girls. He takes the mother over first, and then her daughters. He then takes the father over and leaves the handcuffs on him. He then takes each son over one by one, and then he shoots the robber again.

Ok here's how it works. The mother marries the father and that's how they become the brady bunch. After that, the robber is sick of the cop abusing him so he asks him to let his people go! The robber then parts the...river, and they run across really quick! The cop then calls the INS and informs them of immigrants crossing the border. Meanwhile, the cop gets mad and throws his hat on the floor. Then he hops into General Lee and jumps the river, "yeee haaa!". Ok you think the riddle is over now because everyone is across the river, but it's not the end of the story! The cop still needs to catch the robber and take him to jail. But the robber has different plans! The robber needs to break his brother out of prison! So then he sneaks in and breaks him loose, but the cop will still continue to look for them! This will go on for about 2 seasons on Fox. What happened to the family? Well they moved to a new house in California. The sons steal a car and then one of them gets arrested and the other one moves to the OC. From there, he lives a rich life and falls in love with a girl. But uh oh! She's already taken! Then she eventually ends up getting killed and then the riddle suddenly ends like a month into the next season. Um as for the mother and her daughters... um... idk, they adopt another daughter and she... marries a prince. idk, something like that. And the father well... he became manager of a Home depot. The End.

Actually I did think more into it, and I wonder. What is so good on the other side of the river? Is this one of those riddles like why did you chicken cross the road?

4 robbers were trying to steal a celica of a mafia and got caught red handed, they were hit till unconcious. When awake, they found themselves burried up to their necks, they couldnt move L&R or U&D, and each of them's now wearing a hat. The mafia stood over them and says:

Heres the catch. Three of the robbers are burried on the one side of the room while the remaining robber is on the other seperated by a wall. There are no mirrors in the room, they are not allowed to talk to each others. The guy behind can see the guy(s) infront of him but he cant talk to them whatsoever.

They know that there are 4 hats, 2 blacks and 2 whites.
One of them knows the colour of his own hat for sure but which one and how does he knows...????

btw....one of the guys asked the nick of the mafia and apparently hes known by the name of "Coomer"....sounds familiar??? jk

Why do you guys make it so complicated?
You can have it this way. I'm sure it can be an answer.
Send two daughters or sons first to the other side.
Send the other two daughters or sons to the other side.
Send over both man and woman to the other side.
Then finally the cop and robber go last.. in fact they can go first even.
This riddle has too many possible outcomes.

How about one very very similar. It's a little less complicated.
You have a boat, a chicken, a sack of corn and a wolf. Why you have a wolf? I don't know.
You must get the chicken, the corn and the wolf onto the boat to reach the other side of the river.
You want to make it as efficient as possible, so there is only one boat trip.
Given the size of the animals and the sack of corn... you can only bring over one animal/item across the deck and onto the boat at a time.
However, the chicken will eat the corn if you leave it unattended and the wolf wll eat the chicken if unattended.
You must find a way to get all three over onto the boat.
How do you do so?

My turn... there's a guy that hung himself in the middle of a room, there is not furniture or windows and the room is totally flat (IE No visible support beams to grab onto etc etc) and only a door. How did the man hang himself?
