ok, i got it fixed, my problem before, it was one of the big fuses under neath the hood by the battery. but anyways, now that i have my cd player installed, i am getting no sound from any of the speakers for some reason, but the cd player is on, which is a huge step forward. But when i flick the headlights on, the cd player starts cycling on and off and keeps doing so until i hit the high beams, then it just stays off, all my gauges work, clock, cig lights etc etc... so any suggestions?

I realize this is of no value to you, but it reminds me of a funny story.

When I lived in NYC my friend drove this HORRIBLE POS light blue stationwagon that was an undercover cop car, so it had like a big block chevy engine. Anyway, his radio would shut off whenever he pushed in the cigarette lighter, and would't come back on until the lighter popped out on its own. Sometimes that took upwards of a week or more.

Eventually somebody finally stole his car.

Sounds like your harness is pinched somewhere.

Edit: Try looking around your pedals, sometimes wiring gets caught in the springs. My roommates dad's Tundra caught on fire cause his remote start wiring got pinched in the parking brake spring.

well the car isnt running when i am testing this all out, just in acc mode or whatever you want to call it. but its so strange, it just keeps cycling power up then power down when dims are on, then brights make it stop completely, its like the headlights are sucking all the juice when both of them are on

ok well i have a few things that you should try, it seems that you have wired the constant power wire to the illumination wire, this would cut it on and then turn off when you turn the lights on cause the voltage drops when you turn them on and cuts off with the high beams, so i would go get a multimeter and check that, also i would check the continuity of all of the speakers because if there is a short it could stop all of the speakers from playing also you should pop test the speakers just to make sure they play in the first place. If all else fails run a straight wire from the batt to the radio and then run wire to all of the speakers its not hard just a pain. but take a meter to everything and that should help a lot, and i might be able to help you more

well my illum wire isnt even hooked up, and i have it taped off so it wont ground out to anything. i have a nice multimeter, but how do i check the continuity of the speakers with it. still fairly new at this, i am into smaller electronics, not stereo trouble shooting. its kind of odd, because i had music coming out of them all before, and then i blew that 100a fuse near the battery and now nothing. The fuse is fine right now, i will go do the pop test here in a bit i suppose, even though i know they are all hooked up correctly

well if there is a short then it wont pop test right at all, and i woud say just run a constant wire from the batt to the radio thats an easy way to do it, the only thing is you will have to turn the radio on and off, but i would check and see what the voltage is doing on both the constant and switch wire, also i would replace the radio fuses because it might not look blown but it could be half way blown for a lack of a beter term. also you could try grounding the radio in a diff spot i know that helped in my car. if you try all that stuff and nothing works let me know and ill see what else i can think to check
