I've thought about it before and the only system that will easily fit is the slimmer PS2 and that thing is a POS.

whatever you do don't do a 360. any bump will scratch the hell out of your desk. i would say a ps2 slim would work the best and i would just mount it in the trunk/hatch cargo area.

it really doesn't require much money if you already a ps2/xbox or whatever.. as long as your headunit as an AUX input you could run it like that. I was going to put a n64 in mine, but never got around to it.

Yea i wouldnt go with a 360 because overheating will be a factor. you should probably go old school like SNES, 64, NES, or a genisis. those consoles lasts forever

if you do a 360, know allot about electronics, and are willing to void the warranty, you could maybe:

take the 360's psu out and hook it up with direct current. no inverter. that should be much more efficient and it'll cut down one of the heat sources.

edit: never looked into it seriously, but it sounds like it will work.

if you havent done it yet, its not that hard depending on your head unit, some head units require a video controller box type of setup to process teh signal, others take the input straight from the xbox and can display it, thats the trickiest part. other than that, just get an inverter, i would hard wire it to a switch, then run it into the back and mount it somewhere, and do the same with the xbox- mind you will have to get out of the car, or go through a hassle to change games, turn on etc

i usually just leave it on the back seat on long trips n let who ever is riding tiwth me go to town. not a very practical thing to have, but makes long trips more fun (and longer cuz then ya gatta stop to show up their high score's)

yep, my setup:

IPB Image

I didn't want to spend money on a new PS2 or 360 so I just used my old N64... lots of people like it cuz its old school.

but it does require a lot of cutting and custom mounting to get it to fit.

I got a tiny power inverter from walmart to plug into cigarette lighter.

the flip up DVD player I have has the 3 rca inputs so super easy to hook up.

that is awesomee biggrin.gif

I had a PS2 set up in my car. I have the old bulky model PS2 because this was before the slim version came out. It did not fit in the glove box so I had to remove the glove box and mount the PS2 where the glove box is supposed to be. The only problems which I had with my set up are the wires for the controllers were annoying so i would suggest wireless controllers for sure. Oh and it bothered me one time when i was playing games sitting in my passenger seat, and then my friend started my engine, which turned off the PS2 and i was just about to win a Boss race in Tokyo Extreme Racer frown.gif. Also, my screen wasn't very visible in the sunlight, so it was very difficult to play games during the day, but that problem was just due to a cheap LCD screen. I have a new one now which doesn't seem to have that same problem.

I second the CarPC idea. I've had mine for a year now. It is more practical (mp3s, gps) and it's a bigger wow-factor.
