so i spent about 4-5 hours last night just researching the hell out of the 83-86 AE86 GT-S corolla's..and....wow...i thoguht to myself what a awesome project to start...i seen a couple with 3s-gte swaps...i think they came stock with the 4a-ge? i seen some with the supercharged 4a-gze which is sick..i think what i would want to do if i could is see if i could fit a 2jzgte into it.....now grant it i would still have to have the wireing done..the right trans...but i mean they are rwd cars which make them so much fun....i think a 2jz would be a little too much but a supercharged 4a-gze would be a $hit load of fun...plus i like the body style of the hatchbacks...and with a small lip and some 15's or 16'' deep dish rims towered on some TRD springs.....i think i need to change my pants laugh.gif ....heres some vids i found and a couple pics of what i want it to look like...o0o and by the way...they are goin for like $8800 in good condition with over 240,000 miles...my jaw hit the floor when i saw that...and that wasnt just one...consistantly i saw about the same price for about 5 or 6 cars....now im sure you can find one in rough condition for lower..but still....i couldnt believe that...anyway...

so i came to the conclusion that after the celica is done im gonna find a 1984-5-6 AE86 GT-S Hatchi 5 speed and build her into a nice drift car...then after that im done with imports for a while...it'll be time for the camaro thumbsup.gif

AE's are nice...i gotta buddy of mine with a 4AGZE swapped coupe that he does Gymkana and drifting with and another friend who has a HB with a 2J single turbo swapped drag car. They are nice cars, but its hard to find them in decent condition un-modified or n rusted. If you do decide to get one, check for the corolla hole. Under the brake master cylinder/booster, there will most likely be a hole where its just rotted through. It always hppens on the corollas.

4agTe FTW!!!!!!! oh its hachi no T.........lol good luck finding a TRUE gts no a converted sr5 frown.gif or you can go sr5 and use a supra celica rear end like most of the guys down here. also IMO the flippy lights(trueno) are better then the cat eye (levin). but yes HATCH > COUPE.

i'm having this thought.........you know how the FC's have that flat light conversion..............well i wonder if that could be done to the hachi trueno?????

i almost traded my celica plus 4K cash for a hachi hatch TRUE GT-S. wideboy 4agTe. but my dad said i couldnt touch the cash. the reason he was selling/ trading because he's getting married and his now wife needs a good car. sooooooo bummed i couldnt get it. but i dont really wannna let go my celica anytime soon.

yea i hear ya....but yea i know for a fact you can get that kind of headlight conversion...i still think i would stick with the flip up headlights i think they look pretty sick...espically with like some bright HID's...it would make the front end

you can always get the hella rally replacement lights ( for the flip up ) they are a direct replacement and use a H4 bulb, I have HIDs on those on my MK II supra and they have a nice cut-off line with no glare.

seriously, if you have the time n money and heart for it, an AE86 will be an awesome addition to your garage and well worth the time spent on it.

u dont know what your getting into lol, after working on 3 of them i really dont think they make the best project car....If you buy one I would advise you to get one that runs very well because they money pits

And why are they so expensive up there??

My friend just sold his real 87 GTS with new interior and rare jdm parts for like 2K....

depends where you at. here a gts coupe with jdm add ons will run about 5-7K depending on condition overall. there is one that is pretty much drift ready and the guy has soo much stuff for it that the price will depend on what you want on the car when you buy. but the asking price is 10K. so all i have to say is it depends on location and the amount of cars like it around.
